Clear Creek Colorado Intermediate Whitewater Rafting

Intermediate whitewater rafting trip down Clear Creek in Idaho Springs, Colorado. The first 1/3 or approximately 3 miles of the river is more or less a beginner trip. This long version highlights some of the Class III and iV rapids that are encountered. This was taken on July 10, 2022.

It's so great to be out in nature! The river, the rocks, the trees, the freeway ... Anyway, I will be there on July 31 to run this trip in the afternoon, then go see Alanis Morissette at Ball Arena that evening! ❤

It's about 2 to 2.5 hours on the river.

Do you recall what CFS the river was at this time?

I don't recall but it was on July 4 if you want some historical perspective of water levels and the time of year.

- I’m going here in June! Your video makes me so excited! But very nervous!!! Is it hard to paddle and steer!?? in the video it doesn’t look difficult, but in real life I’m sure it is!!

No. The guides do most of the work (and steering).

@@steveboice - Awesome! Is the intermediate route pretty scary? Would it be best to not wear prescribe glasses?

@@jessievang651 I wouldn't wear presciption glasses unless you have a strap on them. The intermediate route isn't too scary. As long as you are going with a commercial guide/outfitter, you should be pretty safe. My advice would be to rent their wetsuits, boots, and maybe a splash jacket. The water is cold since it is basically snow melt.

I'm going in a few days, do you think it's safe to wear contacts or is the risk too high?

I am not familiar with how easy it is for contacts to fall out. I would ask your rafting guide on the day of. The water level is most likely pretty high right now. I would recommend wearing a pair of inexpensive sunglasses but I have never lost a pair and I go rafting every year.

@steveboice Thank you. One more question if you don't mind, is the raft organized by Bodyweight? Or do you get to sit next to who you wish. Or is it determined another way?

@@bloodoftyrants9172 Most of the time they just ask who wants to sit up front. They usually try to keep the rest of the groups together unless there really is a weight issue.

@@bloodoftyrants9172 Some of the places have changing rooms on site. Clear Creek Rafting does. I am not sure of some of the other operators.
