I built myself a small grid Cargo Eagle (Space 1999) with extendable landing legs. Super handy for under carriage work and repairs, aligning to Base/Platform connectors, Pod Loading and cool landing with air-shocked legs. Can hover and pick up, with Magnetic Pads or Connector locks, 3 'pods' (3x Large separate Small grid or 1 large grid + 1 Large Small Grid Cargo Containers OR 4x Merged Large Small grind Containers OR 1x Science package, built Blocks) using 2 built in piston lifts and one erectable multi-piston crane . The Connectors are at each end of the 'Pod' bay for latching or Supplying power (piped to ship System). My favorite Utility pod is a multi Large grid battery Pack (x4 for range) with Large Grid Ore Detector and cargo pod (supplies for building a mining platform, or whatever, once ore is found. Currently going to work on modifying the landing pads (probably with mag-locks due to the block feet sliding on anything that is not a flat surface when I land.

I always figured shields helicarrier, had to have hydrogen in the walls, to offset the weight of armor, and on board equipment. Outside the armor, and frame, everything would have to be ultra light composite. Anything heavier would lead to the flaw most point out in the impossible weight

ya know physical rotor blades might work for a like a gyro copter setup, wing parts then might be alright like the parts used on wasteds biplane for control surfaces. might be worth some experimentation.

2 years later SE still has the issue of not letting you take off if your sitting on blocks. my craft (Eagle from space 1999) has pistoned landing pads. All I have to do it extend/retract them any amount and then I can take off

Shack I can tell you the new Xbox controls are terrible. I mainly use a controller for Space Engineers and it has made me pretty much put down the game until they get it fixed. Everything is nested in radial menus and you loose the ability to turn and roll since the left bumper now needs to be held down to switch the right thump stick between turning and rolling. They also changed how block are layed down all of the new radial menus are in the thump stick menus so if you are flying or what ever and press a little to hard your in a menu and lets hope you weren't in the middle of a fight or anything else important at the time. It takes all the quick and easy accessibility that I loved about the controller and stripped it away. Sigh, I think I need some time in the salt reactor. They did finally uncouple the down and break/ connect button which is pretty much the only good thing I can say about the whole controller Scheme.

5x for large grid, 1x for small grid... they've addressed this at least once in each of the last 3 streams in a row. Just look at the capacity of the thing in the video, 1 canvas fills it completely.
