I broke my neck and was in rehab when you first started your journey. It has saved my sanity "going" with you on all your trips. The best thing has been watching you become so confident and the quality of your videos getting better all the time. I am still in rehab so you better take me on some exciting trips this summer! LOL I agree with others, Jax does need a bit more camera time now and then!! Thanks for doing your part to keep America Beautiful. Thanks again too for all the adventures and the hard work you put into your videos to make each trip better than the last. I am sure I'll meet you sometime on the big open road! 😊 🚌

Hi Eric. Welcome home. This is Bob and Wanda over on Archer. We met at Ocean Shores a couple of years ago. Just a fishing suggestion. Gear rigging suggestion. Put a slip lead above your snap swivel. One that you can cast a long way and then a leader with the size 8 egg hook on it. One that you can hide inside one power bait. Be sure to hide the eye of the hook. "important!" I find the best colors is the dark green, light green is good too. Wash your hands prior to handling your bait. The fish have good noses. Cast way out there then wind in the slack until the tip of your fishing rod takes a little dip. Set your rod down again take up the slack and wait for a bite. It's always best to have an ultra light rod with a really soft tip so the fish can't feel the rod. If you try hooking the fish and you miss them go to the next larger hook. The fish bite down on the power bait and can't clamp down hard enough to get to the hook therefore when you go to set the hook, the hook gets pulled right out the fishes mouth. You got the idea. My handle is fishhook from Lacey. Again welcome back home and good fishing. Bob

@@JJKHaywood It is truly beautiful. I lived up there for many years, in Centralia/Chehalis, Eric's stompin' grounds. Went to both Centralia Community College and Evergreen State. That was before St Helen's blew, and it was nice to go up to Spirit Lake, which was just drop-dead gorgeous, with friends. Eric , for most of those little lakes that have trout , use 6lb test line . If you like to cast and retrieve , an F-4 flatfish in rainbow or frog pattern . If you like to cast and sit , a single split shot and a small glob of power bait , maybe with a small worm or maggot . I often used added sent like crawfish oil , really brings the fish in .

FYI, that's a Fish and Wildlife access site, so your fishing license would have worked in lieu of your Discover Pass. :) There are thousands of camping spots in E.WA on lakes all over that area that will accommodate a large TT or MH. I've fished Martha Lake many times on the March 1st opener and caught dozens of nice size trout. Water is much deeper on the other side of the lake. Here's my tried and true fish catching setup that's caught 1,000s of trout over the years. Slide a 1/8 oz slip sinker on your line. Tie a #10-12 snap swivel on. 2-3 ft. of 4 lb test leader. Mini marshmallow then a chunk of nightcrawler. The mini mm will float your bait off the bottom and out of the weeds. Floating Power Bait works too, but not as good as a nightcrawler. Much nicer area to camp and fish about 5 miles N. on 281 is the Quincy Lakes area, Quincy, Burke, Evergreen. Awesome fishing, camping, scenery. Just a few miles up the road from The Gorge, so check the music calendar and don't go there on a mega music weekend.......:)
