I'm a native English speaker from the US and this was very informative. Never thought I'd say this, but I don't say any of the words properly. My "th" is a soft "d" sound compared to yours. My As sound like Es compared to yours. You have much harder Rs than I do. I pronounce them almost like faint Ws just so I can speak faster. I've realized that I take lots of shortcuts in the way I talk. Awesome video, thanks for expanding the way I see language!

@@Clearenglishcoach Thank you. I dont know how, but I managed to do it already. I can lift them up without any problem and also I can roll tongue, flicker my tongue like snake or also move my tongue fast behind my upper lips and slightly touch them (dont know an exact name of this exercise :-D). When I train my tongue I dont feel any pain already as before and it doesnt shake. Its strange, because I didnt use to do these exercises too much, only speaking tongue twisters for long time. But now I do these exercises and breath ones and I made a huge progress. I do also other tongue or lips exercises for at least 30 minutes or more and push really hard. I would join a call, but I from Slovakia and I train mother language primarily, even though I try the English ones sometimes, but my vocabulary isnt that good in this area. It need a little practice, too :-D.

@@amakaamaka2942 Hi Amaka, the short "a" sound is an ugly sound like a goat, "baa baa." Drop your chin for the "ah" sound, then smile and the sound will change to the æ sound.

@@None104Nxs Hi Cloudy, the schwa "uh" sound is made with a neutral relaxed tongue, similar to the sound you make you allow air to release from your lungs when you contract your stomach muscles quickly. It's the most used sound in English, because any unstressed vowel, can be this "uh" sound.

I literally cannot do the scraping movement, any suggestions?
@Clearenglishcoach
@Clearenglishcoach 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Boajuan, The scraping exercise is hard for most people. Don't get discouraged. Press the tip of your tongue against the bottom of your mouth and pull it back. This helps to strengthen the middle and back of your tongue. If you have trouble with the "R" sound, this will help. Good luck. Keep practicing. It will get easier.
