Wow, that's useful. French is a syllable-timed language, so equal emphasis is given to each syllable. This is quite unlike English, which is a stress-timed language, and which gives emphasis to one syllable in each word - the stressed syllable - and reduces the vowels in the rest of the syllables (usually to [ə] or [ɪ].)

OMG finally come back 6/7 months ago I was totally stuck with vowels in phonetics and phonology especially with schwa sound so I searched and finally I watched your video and it helped me a lot to improve my sounds . Eliot, I just wanted to say thank you. After watching you videos for dozens of times, some of them I watched even for multiple times, I really achieved what I wanted. I started to follow you during the Covid times and from this moment on I literally fell in love with English and most primarily with the British way of speaking. In this context I even visited the UK this autumn! I have to say that I seem to be a person who does not need that long time as many others for learning a language or for adapting an accent. Indeed, it was not that hard for me as I have imagined before and of course I am still not perfect as a native speaker. Anyway, it is more than funny my English teacher is always calling me the “British friend” in class although I have never been to the UK before my visit in autumn this year. I am more than thankful that I was able to learn the British English within a couple of months with your videos and your help. I could have never imagined I would ever be able to leave my former “German accent” behind while being able to speak English in a more native manner ❤️❤
