Having storage is good before the houses go in and yes put a bed in it so you have a place to crash in case of a late night or not having to go back to the current house for the night.

I agree however we are debating starting building the houses now. Materials are becoming hard to get. Spring time it may get worse. Terry

Thats a great promotion your rental place does. Wished ours did this. Our rental place is closed on the weekends, but if you rent anything from them after 12PM on Friday, you only pay for oneday rent and take it back by noon on Monday. Its a good deal and like you said "gotta save $$ where you can". Are you going with a metal construction for your shop?. I'd love to have one, they're awesome, and go up quickly.

Hey Dean. Yeah it was a great deal. We have thought about doing a metal building but honestly we are just not sure. We cleared the area because it was such a good deal. Just could not pass it up. We can build it much cheaper ourselves using wood framing and pretty much like a home construction on a slab. Then again we like the idea of getting a saw mill and milling some of our lob lolly pines. Since this video we have thought about going ahead and starting the houses now before the shop. The way things are in the world right now I am afraid the materials may become harder to get than they already are. The ladies want houses now lol. Terry

Very nice progress on the leveling. I noticed you came in and dropped another tree. But behind that was a clump for 4 or so smaller ones any reason you left them? I know you mentioned planting trees for shade but how close to the building do you want standing trees? When we cleared I was on the fence but left a 26-30 inch oak tree that stands about 80-90 ft tall. It’s going to be about 100 ft to our garage. Still trying to figure out exact placement of our buildings and will need equipment on par with what you rented to handle our rough property!

Thanks! We left several smaller trees due to limited time. They should be easy to handle with our little Kubota tractor. We do not want any trees close to the building. Not sure exactly what we will end up doing. We just make it up as we go. 🤪 Terry

I have enjoyed watching your videos. Thank you. What size shop are you building .?
@ForestToFarm3 жыл бұрын
Great! You are welcome. We have been on the fence about the size. 30’x40’ has been the base size. Then we have considered adding shed roofs to the sides some time later. Maybe at 40’x15’. On each side. Nothing is set for sure yet. We draw a basic floor plan and then look it over. Then we try something different. You got me thinking that when we settle on something maybe we could do a video explaining the various possibilities and why we decided to go with the one we build. Thanks for watching!! Terry
