Little tip- if you're planning on sticking your old tickets and pictures on your wall at Uni, may I suggest sticking a big sheet of paper and then individually sticking up your pictures and tickets? It'll be easier to take it down at the end of the year xx

speaking as somebody who has just finished their first year at oxford, i don’t think i met a single person when i arrived who had done all of their summer reading; lots of people hadn’t even touched it and most of those who had had barely got halfway through. so i can say from experience DONT worry too much about it!!! it’s definitely more important to rest up and enjoy the rest of your summer, especially cos when you get there you’ll be under the most pressure and doing the most work you’ve had to do in your life (at least it was in my case hahaha), so don’t burn yourself out before you even arrive! just do as much as feels easy and i promise you’ll be absolutely fine

Cannot agree with this statement more!! You’ll regret doing lots of work before you start because you will never have the least amount of work to do as you have right now - pleeease make the most of this ‘freedom’ and enjoy it. Everyone gets up to the same level within the first two weeks so honestly don’t stress. Hard work is for once you’ve started, not before - trust me haha! Hope others starting this year take this on board.

dw!! at the vast majority of amazing unis for most subjects (if you’re studying medicine or smth maybe not aha) the workload is way reduced from A level. oxford (and a couple others) are exceptions for people looking for somewhere with an intense workload and well suited to it, but in my experience loads of people get amazing degrees from amazing unis without having to work tooo much (at least not til exams lmao)
