Summary - Clearance is a hypothetical concept. Clearance is the hypothetical/theoretical/ notional volume of plasma, that is completely cleared (done by kidney) of a substance in unit time. C = (Ux * V) /Px To know whether substance excreted or not, compare Px * GFR and Ux * V.
