The advice to not let others (or even ur own mistakes) affect you and to always focus on driving safe helped me pass my test, it's golden advice that I keep in mind even as a qualified driver with a license
@ExsPert2 жыл бұрын
good advice but sometimes u gotta let ur own mistakes affect you. You wont learn by just ignoring what you do wrong. Better advice is to not let your mistakes ruin your driving and learn from it instead of ignoring it.
@Crystal-gw8pc2 жыл бұрын
@@ExsPert thanks for raising that point, you're right that you have to acknowledge your mistakes and not let at any point develop a habit of thinking "oh, it doesn't matter, people make mistakes" and then not do anything about it, otherwise one would simply be a reckless driver. It is however crucial to not let it affect your calm state of mind and lose focus, rather tell yourself that "ok I made that mistake, it isn't right of me to do so but I will not let that sense of anxiety or guilt take hold over me for the rest of the journey and affect my decision making...lets take deep breaths and focus on driving safe now and dwell on nothing else". Thanks for pointing out the misleading aspect in my comment :)

@@Crystal-gw8pc for sure. I understood that u didn't mean what I wrote I just wanted to furthur explain your point :) but for sure if its something you did by accident and didn't do on purpos then definitley don't take it to heart. Aman - with the car following too close at 12:20 - would a test candidate be able to say to the examiner "I'm just going to pull in on the left to let this van past, as I'm uncomfortable with their manner of driving"?
@AKAMustang2 жыл бұрын
It's a tricky one because you're trying to show that you're confident enough to be on the roads, which would include not letting other road users bully you around. But at the same time being able to safely and correctly "control" other road users by how you position and drive is quite an advanced skill that wouldn't be expected of someone taking an entry level test. Personally I wouldn't bother pulling over, yes they were being aggressive and impatient, but they weren't trying to run them off the road, just do everything correctly as you know how to do, as Aman said in the video. Plus if the examiner thought it was bad enough to warrant pulling over they'd ask you to do so anyway. That being said I don't think there'd be an issue if you did pull over, there are may reasons why a candidate might want to do so, and as long as it's done safely it shouldn't be an issue, the worst you'd get is a minor, but I doubt even that. In fact rule 155 and 169 make specific reference to pulling over if you're holding someone up and they want to overtake, so it shouldn't be a problem. Maybe just don't say you're "uncomfortable", more just that "they clearly want to overtake".
@ClearviewDriving2 жыл бұрын
Hey yes you can definitely so that but at the same time you would want to continue to drive safe and make progress as well

I drove into Nottingham last weekend and a Learner came along beside me at the lights on the right with the road narrowing after the lights. Do people in England even get taught how to hold a steering wheel properly? Here in the Netherlands almost every school is enforcing a certain way to comfortable hold your steering wheel and always must be with two hands along the sides of the steering wheel, allowing the airbag to not hurt you when expanding on an accident. Sometimes I see videos on this channel where people simply drive with one hand and nothing is being said about this, not even at the end when they're discussing everything. Isn't this a thing England driving schools enforce?
@SimplyNailArt2 жыл бұрын
Dat viel mij ook al op, heel gek!
@Shant3ll9982 жыл бұрын
The driving instructor preference is to have both hands on the wheel, usually only one hand is to change gear or to do something else. People are taught ways to hold a steering wheel in England, as long as the driver is comfortable and has control of the wheel, their choice is fine.
@aphextwin57122 жыл бұрын
I was taught driving just before airbags became common. And while I understand the risk airbags pose to your arms, it has to be z`balanced against the risk of causing (or not avoiding) an accident. The way people are taught to steer today feels cumbersome to me. Meaning the technique where you take moderate turns by keeping both hands fixed to the steering wheel (starting in the 9-3 position but moving out of that position as you go through the turn) as if you had a rectangular steering ‘wheel’ like in Formula One cars.
@Samantha-lu6ht2 жыл бұрын
There used to be a big emphasis on ten and two, "feeding the wheel" and not crossing your arms... I don't think that's such a huge thing anymore. 🤔 I think the focus is more on if you're remaining in control of the wheel and keeping safe.
