This is really useful for me. I did my lessons and passed my test in a small town with no big roundabouts, no weird one way systems etc and have never driven in a big city or outside my town at all really! Passed with one minor first time. I did the Pass Plus scheme after passing my test so I did a bit of motorway driving - but after that, I just commute within my small town. I think the disadvantage of passing my test in a flat, small city has left me unprepared to deal with driving somewhere like London :( This learner seems to navigate these roads and roundabouts better than I would xD . This is really helpful for me to watch even though I passed years ago.

In the Netherlands it's nice to signal in the direction you are going on the roundabout to let the people approaching know you haven't reached your exit yet and are continuing on the roundabout, then signal the opposite way when taking your exit this is to stop unnecessary waiting for the people wanting to get on the roundabout

@ClearviewDriving
@ClearviewDriving 2 жыл бұрын
It’s a preference thing, I just feel it can be overwhelming to try and stop and change at the same time. With more experience you can do it that way, when you first start driving focus on stopping when it’s a closed junction Even with junctions where you’re not completely sure if it’s safe, it’s better to stop and then look to go Hope this helps

@@ClearviewDriving All Mercedes cars have been equipped with (Emergencey) Brake Assist for at least 15 years now. Wikipedia describes this as follows: “By interpreting the speed and force with which the brake pedal is pushed, the system detects if the driver is trying to execute an emergency stop, and if the brake pedal is not fully applied, the system overrides and fully applies the brakes until the anti-lock braking system (ABS) takes over to stop the wheels locking up.” Meaning not only is it unavoidable that full brake pressure is applied once you brake fast and hard enough to trigger the system, the system explicitly applies maximum braking power until either the car has stopped or ABS gets active. Therefore if the brake system is powerful enough to get the wheels to lock up (with given the road and tyre conditions), an emergency stop will unavoidably set off the ABS.
@R04drunner1
@R04drunner1 Жыл бұрын
@@aphextwin5712 fascinating and makes total sense from the point of view of getting the car stopped in as short a distance as possible. I did my test before ABS was common on cars. I knew an emergency stop had to avoid a skid, but I assumed with the advent of ABS that restriction ceased to be a consideration. I was surprised to hear the debrief criticise the emergency stop for triggering ABS.

If she made glances at the Sat Nav in the 20 mph area when she was doing 26mph the sat nav said 30mph. An update needed.

I think u should nt believe on navig bcz somtime it misguide u ,knowing that street speed may vary depending on some condition ex : accidents or street works.. so better to be in safe side look for signs whenever u enter any new road if there is no signs and there is street lights that's mean it 30mph
@robertmills2054
@robertmills2054 2 жыл бұрын
@@aliaworld5323 No it does not nowadays where there's a lot of roads that are now 20mph but with street lights and no signs mean it should be 30mph and with the councils responsible for putting up speed signs there will always be this problem. My main point was if the lady was not sure and she saw the street lights and she glanced at the satnav and saw it said 30mph she might have not realised it was 20mph. There needs to be more signs in areas that have reduced speed limits to 20mph. But I agree you should always use more visual awareness of surroundings.

They have put signs up so you can u will only get marked down if it’s very clear and you’re over the speed limit but we can’t trust the sat nav sped as it’s not up to date Examiners even mention this sometimes

In the reality: just buy a car which has Oil level sensor, Coolant level sensor and Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor (most of german cars have it currently as I know). Always reset TPMS after adjusting tire pressure. Use Automatic gearbox and its way easier in the everyday life. Thats it... So you never need to do anything by yourself until it doesn't warn you to do. However of course its always good to know how to do those things in your car if you need to. It's 2023 boyz not 90's. :P

10 out of 10 for instruction , alas sadly they forget the basics . I am sure it's true in UK . So many idiots on the road . Here in Australia car drivers haven't got a clue . Charge past a a truck an then pull into the left-hand lane and jam their brakes on . Why ? In saying that there are a lot of idiots driving trucks . My take on it is that is people's self importance overrides anybody . As a truck driver you should be aware of dangerous driving , be it cars or trucks . If a truck is in the centre lane indication left or right how should you pass him ?

Manual car. Every manual car has its clutch so you need to put the left foot on the clutch at times, and the right foot for the accelerator or brake pedal. When using automatic transmission cars, there is no clutch so your left foot will always be free.
