The Clearwater Beach Patrol is a highly trained and dedicated group who guard the beaches of Clearwater Florida 365 days a year. As a member of their staff I recorded and put together this video to show everyone a little bit of what we do every day.
Song: Alan Walker- Fade [NCS release]

cool, seems your unit is well kitted. great stuff. the beach in my town has almost no waves due to wave breakers we installed in the 80s, we too train without fins.

What's it like being a lifeguard? How is the training? I kind of wanna be a lifeguard at my local pool. I know how to swim and I'm cpr certified. What do I need to do to become one?

Thanks for reaching out! You totally should! CPR and knowing how to swim are both a good base. The biggest part of being a guard is being comfortable in the water, a lot of people can swim but knowing how to keep your cool while swimming with someone clinging on to you is the part that matters. Otherwise it sounds like you’ve got the foundation to do it! More first aid training would be a good thing for you to have, especially at a pool setting. If it’s a good pool/club they will help you to gain more experience with the skills you need to be successful. Every organization is different, but all will have a swim test of some kind, and you’ll need certificates for CPR/AED training and First Aid training (both can be done with the Red Cross).

MarleyMar1399 Current pool guard and (hopefully) ocean guard at long island here, 100% look into it. Sometimes its a little cruddy with longer chair sits but lets be real what other job can you do at 16 that pays you for literally sitting in a chair, watch kids screw around in a pool, and swim? Of course depending on the spot you're at it might be better or worse but I've done it the past two summers and I absolutely love every second of it.

Why are they going on a rescue without fins??
@ajmcdermott33
@ajmcdermott33 6 жыл бұрын
Max Mikkelsen thanks for the question! All of these clips are of our training from only a couple of days. A lot of times we train without fins because it makes the practice rescue more difficult. We do train with fins on rougher days but most of the time our beach has very minimal chop so even some of our real rescues don’t include fins. Ultimately the answer is that we do train and conduct rescues with fins, I just didn’t get any of those in this video.
