Heres how you go straight to the top ranks of American Lifeguarding: 1. Move to Australia and do our lifeguard courses. Congrats. You are now fitter, higher medically trained and trained in specialist rescue techniques for a range of hyper-extreme climates.

I’m a lifeguard at a city pool in the Midwest. How would I train for this?
@mandythiede74616 жыл бұрын
I'm not part of this agency, but from what it looks like its pretty similar training, and what I did to prepare for the Pre-Test (Usually a Mile run under 8 minutes, and a 500 Swim under 10, however this is bare minimum requirements and most agencies make you do more than that) is lots of sprints, and a lot of HIIT running and swim work outs. If you are an athlete or at least a active person a lot of the pre-tests should be easy for you. If not then, you should aim to train a month in advance, and seek out other Lifeguard Rookies who are preparing for the pre-test because then you can push each other. Then once you pass the pre-test you go through all their regular training (Which is a 2-4 week training camp) and your performance within the camp will decide whether you get to stay in the program or not.

I trained for long beach lifeguard department, are you good in 60 degree water? if so then start swimming in the ocean. it’s a 1000metre (40laps in a regular pool)run swim and 400-500metre run and depending on the people that are there, some are waterpolo players but, if you’re committed you probably will get it.our tryout was March 9 and 10 we had 200 people that tried out and it Varies which county you’re in hope that helps good luck 🤙🏻

I wouldn't go as far as to say I love it. But I am very used to and tolerant of it. I am able to do everything I can do in warm water in the cold water of Socal. It was crazy to see how many people finished the qualifying swims vs. how many lined up. I love the ocean, I wish it was tropical temperature around here though lol. @tanyaguido43753 жыл бұрын
As long as your a good swimmer and can do the physical stuff, you should go for it. There's going to be lots of other people there to help you out with getting someone out of a pool, so as long as you can get them to the side of the pool which its not hard you'll have a big red bouy with you so i think you will be fine. Im really skinny and im working on becomming a lifeguard at a waterpark so i would say just go for it, whats the worst that can happen? You fail, then you retake the course til you get it. You got this 💪🏻
