I recently did Kilimanjaro a few months after you did yours. I watched your video on Kilimanjaro as well. Thanks for your advice then! I just completed the same trail you did at Clementi Wood. The look of the railing is so very different now compared to the one in your video :) But I found a way to do the Red Beam part without going into the canal. I did the trail at 4.30pm - 6.30pm after a hot day so much of the trail was already dry so I managed to complete the full trail without any mud on my shoes. Just lots of dry mud. Thanks once again for leading the way. :)

You can cross without going into the drain. I believe you need to keep left after the railing, can't recall the exact direction but I have crossed it twice without going into it
