The safety policy of hotstone massage is NOT to place and keep the stones directly on the skin. Like she has the stones resting on the back. When using stones you can only do that directly on the skin while you perform the motions. With keeping the stones in place on the back or where ever on the body to rest you must place a towel/blankey between the skin and the stone. Therefor as a masseuse I cannot approve of the way she does the massage .

What kind of damage does it do? Do the stones remain very hot or is it possible to get them to a warm temperature? Out of curiosity, if you feel comfortable, what country are you from? I imagine sometimes the strict rules may vary country to country. Please don't feel pressured to answer that last one though. (Genuinely curious - I am not a masseuse so I have very little knowledge of these techniques.)

Every hot stone massage I've had the masseuse has always done it this way. I guess nobody knows what they're doing. It almost seems as if they're taught to do it this way. I don't even get a massage from a place that doesn't offer hot stones. I've had plenty..this is very interesting.
