Cleo can reach an audience outside the normal racecar fandom. I myself am not much of an F1 fan, (the only popular motorsport that remotely interests me is rally racing,) but I've been coming by Cleo's channel for her science content for ages. This makes her kind of an ideal host for bringing the "nerdier" side of F1 racing to a broader audience. (Personally, this is the only reason I'm really interested in F1 at all; I love the engineering and I study aerodynamics as a hobby, so there's a lot to appreciate, design-wise, in F1, and I care about that more than the competitive aspect of the sport itself. Cleo is the perfect ambassador for "my kind" of people.) Plus, I mean, motorsports are predominately followed by male fans. Having a female presenter with this much _genuine_ enthusiasm for the sport is basic just free advertising for FIA, (or Red Bull in particular, in this case,) because it's more likely to appeal to an otherwise potentially ambivalent female audience. And given her background in covering science and engineering topics, it's a fair bet that she can actually understand and convey the important principles involved in F1 racing in a way that resonates with her existing fan base. From a marketing perspective this was a really smart move.

I've been following F1 since around 1983, and as many others have said in the comments, this is one of the best documentaries I've watched on F1. Very, very well done. What sets it apart from other documentaries is the scope, showing that everything, the car design, manufacture, pit crew, drivers, and strategy, must work at their peak. It was really cool to see Hannah Schmitz representing the strategy team. Red Bull's strategy has been just perfect; it's mind-boggling how they can get it right every single time, even when the strategy seems odd for a fan (one of those "why are they doing that?!" moments), and then after the race is usually "yeah, they were spot-on on the strategy". Great video.

An interesting characteristic of modern f1 engines is that they doesn´t use a direct sparkplug for igniting the mixture, the use a pre combustion chamber (turbulent jet ignition) to inject jets of fire to the cylinder chamber (it´s like a mini flamethrower inside each cylinder). This allows the engine to be able to achieve complete combustion with very lean air/fuel mixture, this is one of the reasons of the high thermal efficiency of these engines. Is great to start seeing this technology arriving to road cars, like the Maserati MC20. Great video btw!

I've watched F1 since 1985, never been able to afford to go. But it's the most amazing sport. There's nothing quite like lights out and the first corner. Always incredible. Cleo, you did a fantastic job of explaining how it all works. Your enthusiasm is infectious and I absolutely love everything you do.

Just watched your episode and I had blast. As a lifelong F1 fan I can appreciate your enthusiasm and energy while making it. Not everybody can transmit what really goes on behind the scenes and you have done a mega job. Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!!

You literally showed so much. I am new to the fandom so i didn't know much and have been going through videos to videos trying to understand the Formula 1. A lot of those videos are just people yapping and not talking about real thing that goes on to these cars and the one who makes these cars. This video gave a brief idea on how it works and not just that but seeing all of the engineers and other workers working for the best car was so good. It gave me goosebumps. I want to work for Formula 1 one day and this video gave me little idea on what to expect. Watching everyone put so much effort on to these cars is mind blowing. Thank you so much for the video!!! You earned another subscriber Cleo

The FIA should pay you massive royalties for this video. It should be linked on their site. I'm an old dude and longtime F1 fan. This is the best video explaining the process that I've ever seen. Fantastic job!

I've been watching Formula 1 since 1978. I'm Canadian and I started watching when Gilles Villeneuve was racing for Ferrari. After watching your video, I can honestly say this is the first time I've been jealous. Thank you for that insite, I enjoyed it.

This is single-handedly the best video to show what Formula 1 is all about. Your video production is through the roof and the visual proof is amazing. Though my F1 bias might shine through, this is one of the best videos on KZbin

It’s so cool to see another American so HUGELY excited about F1! Most everyone I know thinks I’m always talking about Indy car when I’m trying to explain F1 to them.

This is really probably one of the best F1 videos ever made. Or at least maybe the best I've found. The amount of access you got is insane, countless automotive journalists would kill for this. I think it'd be cool if one of the teams released something like this after a major regulation change covering the previous regulations, showing how they built the engine, some of the aerodynamic intricacies of that generation, etc. Very unlikely that'd ever happen as I'd imagine even that could give out secrets, but this is about as close as anyone's gonna get otherwise. What a great video.

This is not only your best video, but it’s the best piece of media I’ve seen on formula 1 in years. Well done! As a longtime fan, it’s been such a blast seeing f1 become popular in the US. It truly is the marriage of what is possible with engineering and human talent in the car.

15+ years of F1, seen it all, doc-wise. Most documentaries leave you stranded at the starting grid. But Cleo's video? Pole position winner! Crisp, informative, captures the F1 adrenaline rush perfectly. This explanation laps the competition (even F1!). Seriously, Cleo, thanks for this amazing video! 🏎

I've become a big Formula 1 fan over the last few years. I always knew that a tremendous amount of innovation and collaboration went into building a winning Formula 1 car, but this film blew my mind just how much. I'm in awe of those who get to do this for a living. One of the best videos I've ever watched on KZbin.

As a casual to regular f1 fan this was an incredibly great run through. To just see what’s happening in the factory from the testing, simulations, strategy. Never expected to learn anything standard general knowledge side but loved seeing the 60% sized model in the wind tunnel. I was wondering how to teams were navigating that obstacle. And seeing the engine being in production for 2 years now. Recommend highly great stuff Cleo was great
