As a teenager I just thought Randal was funny because of his anarchistic nature, but as an adult he's seriously admirable in as much as that he lives his life entirely by his own rules. He makes the most out of any situation, despite spending his days at a thankless job, and treats the video store and convenience store as his own kingdom.

It’s what I love about movies - they become products of their time. Almost like time capsules. Randall isn’t nearly as smart as he is. Dante’s just not a good debater. The actual argument wasn’t that “title dictates behavior” it was that title *should* dictate behavior, or that one should live up to the standards of their title. Obviously you can be a jerk and a bad employee if you want but if that’s the case you don’t deserve the title. I imagine the only reason Randall doesn’t get fired is a combination of Dante covering for him and his boss being as much of a lazy jerk as he is. He’s no philosopher and ultimately I think the movie is aware of it.

How long before Dante calls the cops? Ha shrugs it off," seen it before. Just so as long he pays for the mess!....compared to Caitlyn's strange encounter in the restroom...nothing should surprise him....especially since ITS SUPPOSED TO BE HIS DAY OFF !!!

I love clerks too. But the acting is so obviously ...acting. These guys were just waiting to say their line after each other. Ita charming....but to say this is cinema or deep.. is a bit much.

Hmm. Does that mean it would suddenly become cinema of the movie was the same but the acting was better? Just kidding. But I think what this movie lacks in acting, it makes up for in relatability to the commoner. With the exception of kids movies, comedies never ever make it to the Oscars and that's kind of a shame too.
@Waltersop

It adds to the charm. Clerks is a really famous indie movie, having professional and ground breaking acting would, in a weird way, remove the charm.
