Candy Smith Cincy"s metro is a few thousand people more than Cleveland,maybe 5 thousand,but Cleveland proper is still larger than Cincy proper by about 80,000.But todays standard goes by metro population as city size.

Where's Higbee's Department Store from "A Christmas Story"?

It's attached to the Terminal Tower (the building that looks like a wedding cake shape) my Dad worked there from 1952 until he retired. I did too during the summer and on school breaks and on the two evenings they were open until nine, when I was in high school and College in the '60s. I MISS it SO much. We did all our shopping there and my mom and I would go just about every Saturday when I was a kid, to shop, visit my Dad on his floor, eat at the Silver Grille on the 10th floor, and just enjoy downtown Cleveland. At Christmas it was magical. In "A Christmas Story" the floor where Ralphie saw Santa (the first floor), I worked on that floor a few times (when you are a part timer, they would move you around to different floors and departments each time you came in to work) You can see an escalator going up in the background and I can't tell you how many times I rode that escalator over the years. It closed for good in January of 2002, but the Higbee sign you see in the movie was never removed and won't be. The bottom 2 floors are now the "Jack Casino" I WISH it was still Higbee's Dept. Store. It was such a wonderful time shopping downtown when I was growing up, before malls killed the major department stores in Cleveland....Higbee's, May Company, Halle's, Sterling Lindner Davis. ALL great department stores. I hate shopping malls.

Anyone who thinks Cleveland’s skyline is bigger looking than Cincinnati is nuts. Cleveland looks like a smaller city from most angles. Still beautiful though!
