Why not? Heinicke was just treading water. Heinicke was getting sacked a lot and not getting wins. Dude won 5 games out of 9. He wins 5 games per year and y'all acting like Wentz getting his job back from Heincke was like benching Tom Brady for Wentz. Heinicke wasn't going to win vs. the Browns either. The playoffs were lost vs. the Giants series. Watson was allowed to find his groove. Besides the Browns have always had Washington's number. I knew beating them wouldn't be easy at all. Team doesn't even practice seriously. Just way too soft. The Browns have a top, if not, THE top running attack. Washington can't stop the run so there's that. The team was never playoff material.

This game made me happy as a Browns fan. We lost our starting Mike LB (Anthony Walker) early in the season and that was a huge blow.. then we lose other LBs and are down to 2nd and 3rd stringers. Our defensive tackles have been terrible all season. Our defense has cost us 3-4 VERY winnable games with Jacoby Brissett under center. Watson hasn’t played in nearly 2 full years before starting. All of this, and we could finish just below .500. False narrative. Wentz has NOT done the same on 3 teams. The 2020 Eagles were flat out bad---due to injuries, the roster was completely depleted & the play calling was bad. The HC & GM were in a battle of wills so the front office was in turmoil. The HC was burned out. But, he wanted Wentz to play pocket passer from a very dirty pocket--no Oline. He set him up.benching Wentz & Hurts throwing the game to Wash. At the Colts, Wentz had beaten the Raiders---then the defense collapsed in the last seconds of the game allowing them to scored td & 2 pt. conversion. The Colts would've clinched the playoffs right then. The game vs. the Jags most of the team was ravaged by Covid & were never prepared vs the Jags. The Colts let Wentz go mostly due to his stance on Covid 19--not his play which was pretty solid.

I've been saying it for the last THREE YEARS. This Browns defense is absolutely LOADED with talent. They are unquestionably one of the most talented defenses in the entire NFL. Yet they have done nothing but underachieve every single season. That is 100% because of Joe Woods. He is pathetic. He forces all of these elite man-to-man players to play his gimmicky trash zone defenses where EVERYONE looks lost and confused. Woods is the best conman I've ever seen. His players look lost, confused and totally disinterested for the first half of every single season, and because of the trash defense, the team is like 2-6 and is basically already eliminated from playoff contention. Then Woods drops the trash zone defense and just allows these ELITE PLAYERS to go out and play FOOTBALL, and all of a sudden, it looks like the Browns have a top-5 defense...but it doesn't matter because the team has no chance at the playoffs now and the season is over. Then Andrew Berry and Stefanski and whoever makes the decisions around here says "Oh man! Look at how ELITE our defense was down the stretch! Looks like they are rounding into form! We better keep Joe Woods so we can roll into next season with some defensive momentum, and we should have a top-5 defense all of next season!" Then they come out and look like absolute TRASH for the first eight games and we just go through the same thing year after year after year like it's Groundhog Day. I'm not watching one second of this team next season if Joe Woods is still our defensive coordinator.

Why would the HC stick with a QB who can only win him 7 games max? Seven games will not save a head coach from being fired. Luckily for RR selling the team is giving him more time. Win-loss is a hc stat. If the hc can't win he gets fired. 7 wins is still below .500 in a 17 game season. HC is looking for a QB, who can carry his team to 9, games or more with bad play calling, no Oline, weak TE support, and an inconsistent run game. He needs a Super Man. That doesn't include, a 5 win QB like, Heinicke. RR went with Wentz because he's taken bad teams w/ weak Oline support to the playoffs. He's won more than 8 games in his career working with less. RR was hoping against hope. I can't blame him for that. If he got rid of Scott Turner he'd have had his return to the big time. Turner is a QB killer. Wentz still has more upside than Heinicke which explains why RR went with Wentz. Rivera gave both a chance both failed RR. The HC, Rivera owes nothing to the feelings of failed QBs. Ron knows 7 games is .438 that is under .500 in a 17 game season. Heinicke is only a 5 win back up QB. The team never supported Wentz, a .529 QB. They only mouthed platitudes. So the team got out what they put into it. They went with the .469 QB and stalled out at 5 wins. Don't fault Rivera for going with the average QB above the below average qb. Neither QB got it done in the end. But the venom and ugly, vileness towards Wentz has gone on long before he lost a game on Sunday. Wentz shouldn't lose his career because he didn't win for a historically, bad team.

What a great win by the Browns let's see if we can do it against the Steelers hopefully Baltimore can beat them so the Browns can tie the Steelers next week and while listening to the game I got to see and hear the Browns beat Carson Wentz for the first time so I get to mark that off my bucket list even though Ohio State lost to Georgia they played their hearts out in that game and that's one of the best games I've ever watched and listened to in my life but we'll get them next time go browns not a bad way to start 2023 on a good note

Would have to see Wentz botch it up with a good team to know if he were done. Colts made him the fall guy. He helped carry that team in 2021. The Commanders/Washington is not a contending team. The 2020 Eagles were really bad, which was the practice squad, that wasn't allowed to practice, due to Covid. The 2022 Commanders wasn't a good team & the team never embraced or supported Wentz. So the jury is still out that Wentz is truly done.
