Today offers a rare treat: Cavs at 3:00 and Notre Dame vs Ohio State at 7:30.

The next 2/3 years are the absolute prime years for Donovan Mitchell. The time to strike is now.We must go all in for a trade for Cam Johnson. We can't waste this #1 seed! OKORO/TYSON/1st round pick in 2031/pick swap in 2030/multiple 2's and salary fillers to get to the $ number!

Levert can go back
@AndrewPolander17 сағат бұрын
@@Eltee127 The fact that he is a UFA makes that possible...in that scenario I could see the Nets shipping Levert to a 3rd team..because the NETS want to LOSE! Now that we have Ty..that really doers make Levert expendable for a player like Cam J...Levert was awful from 3 last post-season!

IF Cavs can't find a way to get Cam, I'd definitely go after Oubre Jr Or even kuzma. Anything but Niang and Okoro 😂

Half the season and we only lost six games....why would you mess with that😮
@liteflightify5 сағат бұрын
Because playoff matchups like Boston, ORL, ATL and a healthy 76s can make them pay for not having a wing with some length, athleticism and dependable scoring. And it also means the Cavs are very dependent on solid scoring in the post season.
@melindakeirsey28765 сағат бұрын
@liteflightify we can beat any of them teams in a 7 game series...if healthy...we could have beat Boston last year if we were healthy .. something people seem to overlook....we were beat up in the playoffs.....now with everyone play less mins. And still winning .no doubt in my mind we can take the east....just enjoy the ride 👍
@liteflightify5 сағат бұрын
@@melindakeirsey2876 Winning a lot of regular season games doesn’t nullify the lack of long, athletic, scoring wing on the Cavs. While if all they have to do is give up a first rounder and a couple players not in the “core 4” you can’t say no to that trade. You can “enjoy the ride” while remembering that the ultimate goal is championships.

I would go after cheaper upward trending bench players to bolster the SF/C positions.

Weird caveat with the 2nd proposed trade: LeVert, Tyson, and Merrill doesn't work salary-wise. While Johnson's trade salary is $22.5m, and the three of them combined are very close to that number, he has an additional $4.5m in "Unlikely to be Earned" incentives, which doesn't get included in salary matching but still counts against the apron. When accounting for that extra $4.5m, this trade as constructed would push their overall roster number over the first apron, meaning they could only take back in the trade as much as they send out, and unfortunately they would exceed that here by only a few hundred thousand. They would also be under the roster minimum and adding an additional player to the roster to comply would be even more salary counting against the 1st apron. I could be missing something but I'm not sure there's a way to get it done without either involving Niang or another rotational player better than him, in addition to one of LeVert/Okoro/Strus and Tyson (and picks). The silver lining of this caveat is that it is also a hinderance for some other teams close to the apron as well.

I read somewhere earlier the Cavs have a $2 7 MLE. to fill the roster. I may be wrong
@justinbyler51296 сағат бұрын
@@nicholasamador1736 they haven’t used any of their MLE yet, but realistically they don’t have a good avenue to cut enough salary to use the $12.822m non-taxpayer MLE; so they’d be limited to just the $5.168m taxpayer MLE. Beyond putting together a package Brooklyn agreed to, a Cam Johnson trade would ultimately come down to where the overall roster salary is relative to the tax threshold and the first apron. The MLE likely won’t come into play unless they’re already close to the 1st apron and are trying to bring a buyout player in.
@justinbyler51292 сағат бұрын
Looping back on this the only way I can find to make this deal work with LeVert/Tyson/Merrill is if they include CPJ in the deal as well, but because of the roster minimums, they would need to redirect either CPJ or Merrill to a third team for a player making $1.5m or less, which there aren't many more of those players left in the league; Pelicans have 2 that could work.

OKC fan here. CJ on the Cavs would be amazing for the Cavs. I wonder if they could pull it off. If I were the Nets, I wouldn’t want Cavs picks. They’re going to be really good for the next 5+ years. I also don’t see the young talent that they offer. I think they only have expiring contracts which wouldn’t really do it for me. Personally, I think the Pacers have the best young players to offer and may be willing to make the trade. What do you all think?
@ZenWaves713 сағат бұрын
I would want the Kings picks because I think that organization is unstable and has the potential to provide a lottery pick in the future.
@Nuvendil2 сағат бұрын
But the Kings control all their picks, so they would be trading one or two in the near future, when they'll still be good. The Lakers offer the best avenue for getting a potential lottery pick. A pick in 2031 is a trade asset though. Brooklyn wouldn't actually ise that pick, they would trade it later.
@rahimi476217 сағат бұрын
I think our expiring contracts matter. The Nets are right under the apron in salary. Nets need to shed salary too. We can offer them shed in salary, young players and a little draft capital.
@davidseifert737214 сағат бұрын
The Ben Simmons contract comes off at the end of the season, so that's 35ish to 40ish million off the books. So they probably don't care as much to shed salary.

Levert is way better than Tyson wayy way better. Dude was a playoff starter for a different team and was an all-star as well. Y'all crazy thinking cam Johnson would have half his stats on OUR team. Caris is much more effective with less touches and a play maker. Too much chemistry loss for the same player and to give more than LeVert is some crack head move

Cam is literally Caris levert with more minutes. When Caris plays his minutes they have identical stats. It would be a dumb over pay for a mid guy. If you swapped them teams from the beginning of the season, levert would have much better numbers and I know the Cavs would be a lot worse

You clearly haven’t watched much Brooklyn. Never mind that he’s now surrounded by trash. So, his stats are deceiving. He would be a significant upgrade from Wade, Strus and Levert.

@Nuvendil2 сағат бұрын
What? Cam is averaging 19.5 ppg, 4 rpg, and 3 apg on 50/43/89 splits. He's much more efficient on higher volume. LeVert has been very good, but not the same. Also they aren't even remotely similar players. Cam is a more offball player, LeVert is a ball handling wing
