West side market, on crowded days, pick-pockets are there so keep a close watch on your purse. Do NOT let the fruit and veggie people fill your bag from behind their counter. I bought 4 pints of strawberries and when i got home found 4 pints of fuzzy, moldy strawberries. So pick your fruit and veggies from what is on display, not what they fill your bag with from behind their counter. Be aware, there are no "sell by" dates on meats and stuff, so make sure what you pick out is what they wrap up for you. COUNT YOUR CHANGE!!!

Slymans E31st & St Clair! I used to work at the Mueller Electric Factory on E31 5 minutes walk from there and I would either eat lunch there or in little China down Payne every day. As a young punk just figured this was a pretty good Cleveland deli. Miss those days in the 90's when life was simple

@@travelingterrezzas313 when you’re back in town check out Ferris Deli for the best Shawarma this side of the Atlantic. Syrian style- be sure to ask for pita (if that’s what you expect) as they use a tortilla otherwise.

If you are ever in the area again try out Schlotzsky's for corned beef. Presti's in little Italy also is a great bakery. Thanks for showing Cleveland in your travels.
@travelingterrezzas3132 жыл бұрын
I read a few blogs recommending Schlotzsky's - I believe they are a food truck? - correct me if I am wrong- I tried to align our days and hours with where they were located but it was a little difficult. Cleveland was awesome!!

You went to absolute wrong place for corned beef in Cleveland. The Irish place may be good but you completely missed a Cleveland institution for corned beef --Slymans!!! Franks is a must at the Westside Market but so is “Steve’s Gyro’s”. Rita’s cream cheese and bacon stuffed pepperoncini’s are a great snack at the market also.
@travelingterrezzas31310 ай бұрын
I tried to look up Slymans - they were rated #1 for corned beef but they were a food truck and from what I remember at the time it wasn't clear where I could find them as a tourist. And it wasn't "wrong" we enjoyed our corned beef perhaps the more eloquently way of stating your point was more "popular" / iconic. Hope I helped you articulated better

Slymans is killer but because it is in a sketchy neighborhood, they close early like 2 -3 pm Steve's Gyros in West Side Market does the best gyros anywhere

@@travelingterrezzas313 I think you confused Slyman's for Seti's. Seti's had the best Polish boys in Cleveland and operated out of a food truck. He got sick and hasn't been working in several years. The area Slyman's is located isn't that sketchy anymore. There is nothing there but businesses. CSU is close to there as well. I've never felt unsafe in that area in the past 14 years. It might have been bad at one time, but not anymore.
