A few years ago the Reseda school band started with eight students starting a band club, and has grown into an award-winning, powerhouse high school marching band. Kalyna Astrinos reports.

Having been in the marching band back under Mr. Tucker in the mid-late 1960s, this totally touched my heart. As I recall, we had one year where we had a fairly sizable contingent perhaps 50 players. The other years we had so few players that we were barely able to form an umbrella for our "salute to Mary Poppins." (As I recall, I was in the handle, tootling along with my bass clarinet which was quite restful compared to the poor kids who had to "open the umbrella and sprint across the field.) Needless to say, but I'll say it anyway, looking at these young, beautiful, and talented musicians brought very deep feelings of love and respect. All hail to Cleveland, High, our alma mater true!
