I had this recorded on vhs and lost it forever. I've been searching every now and than on Y.T. hoping somebody would....well you just made my day sir...thank you bunches! One of the best musicians ever assembled for a band. I was fortunate to catch them on their next tour supporting their Eye of the Beholder release...and I left that show numb...totally blown away!

I hadn't heard of Elektric Band or that Arsenio Hall hosted a series when this aired, though I had been a fan of Chick Corea. Eventually, I did hear "Your Eyes" from the "Light Years" album and knew I had to have it. Since then, the studio version of Time Track has become my favorite Chick Corea song of all time. This live version rocks!

Thank you for posting this. The Chick Corea Elektric Band hit so hard coming out of the gate and the question for a lot of musicians at the time especially outside of jazz was “who are these guys?” I had this clip on video tape at the time it aired and of course that videotape circulated and I never got the video tape back because musicians were in such awe.. “Look at these guys..they’re cooking and having fun but who are they?” Everything was different about them. The setup, the gear, the vibe,the sound.. & with Chick already being established & a world renown, Grammy award winning artist, this was just a peak into the world of things to come from them collectively & individually regarding these top notch musicians..Incredible musicianship. I was also blown away by JP, being a bassplayer myself and the props that Arsenal Hall gave him and the rest of the band was just the absolute best. Everyone that watched this live for the first time was thinking the same thing.

It was like when I heard Motorhead for the first time in 1980. I saw the album cover for "Ace of Spades", and listened to the music. I remember asking myself, "who are these Mexicans and how do they play this fast?"

I got to see this performance when it aired. It was one of the most exciting televised musical performances I’ve ever seen. Weckl was such on a profound influence on me back then. What a great time for music back then!!!

Chick's Elektric Band embraced the technology of the 80s but had nothing to do with 80s music, it was a combination of many forms of music including Pop, Funk, R&B, Jazz and Rock. This is amazing footage, Frank Gambale and Eric Marienthal had recently just been added to the band line-up.

I first saw this in tv and my first thought was this is beyond tight. They were all a specialized unit that really way past your normal fusion band. Chick really put together something really special back then, but as usual faded quickly.

Hey, Cleveland Live Music, did you happen to record Chick two years later when he was on The Pat Sajak show, playing "Spain", with Tom Scott fronting the house band with Colaiuta on drums, Carlos Rios on guitar?? I have it on VHS, not in great shape either.
