Another way to remember heart sounds are: APT M 2245 A= Aortic 2nd R sternal P= Pulmonic 2nd L sternal T= Tricuspid 4th L sternal M= Mitral 5th L mid clavicular Note: Erb's Point (S1, S2) L 3rd sternal/intercostal space

Hi nurse Mike! I love your videos ! If you’re able … could you use this same example with a heavy set female. I often find myself struggling to find all 5 heart tones on heavier patients.. specifically females with large breasts. And I feel really awkward when I’m faced with this situation. I’m a nursing student looking for any pointers. Lol thanks.

These are ausultation points not heart sounds , to get technical. Murmur, click, or S1 would be heart sounds for example
