I took my first one totally apart two months ago. Didn't know what I was doing for sure, but I got it figured out. I just figured it was toast any ways.... But I did fix it.

I recently received a main wheel for cuckoo clock that has a chain guard installed and no matter where I place the guard it interferes and rotates around causing issues is there any fix that you know of when working with these chain guarded main Wheels?

I havent dealt with that many chain guards. However looking at some on timesavers they have a cut out in them for the movement plate posts. So the post prevents them from rotating. The following is a typical ratchet wheel with chain guard showing the cut out section for the post. timesavers.com/search.html?q=32827&go=Search

I made the decision to cut off the guard and now it works normally. Before I cut it off, it would rotate interfering with the 2nd wheel.

Did you have it on the post that holds the plates together. Because it should not have rotated if you did.

@@munnerlyn3 Yes fully assembled and would rotate CW, having no place to anchor the post. Timesavers told me put it at 12:00 but still interfered with 2nd wheel and Escape wheel. Very strange.

@@munnerlyn3 The post attached to the chain guard can't anchor anywhere, causing interference with Escape/2nd wheels as it rotates CW. Really bad design.
