Thankyou for sharing this. It is a great way to interact with your horse, even when we get too old to ride!

I clicker train my 6 yo appaloosa X and hes gone from unmanageable to an angel. It's amazing and i hate how so many people will refuse to even listen to me say how great it is. Your video shows that in 3 minutes of love and fun.

It's lovely to see more people who believe in non-abusive training, especially when it is very possible to obtain results like yours. You can see your horses are content and well looked after.

Wow, i've fallen in love with your two minis. I've already trained my mini some tricks, not with the clicker. I haven't been able to keep up the training because i've been busy with school. This summer i hope to begin clicker training with him, and this video is very inspiring. Thanks!

I love using the Purina Packer Pellets for horse treats. They are cheap, easy to handle and keep in your pocket, healthy and horses will die for them!

This is one of the sweetest videos I've seen! My kids will get a kick out of it too. MOST AMAZING when you walk backwards with your buckskin and he sidesteps toward you. Wow! Did you ask him to bring you his bucket or does he do that playfully anyway? You are an inspiration to me...thanks for the great video! :)

I hope you don't mind me posting a video response. I have used clicker training with great sucess on the little shetland pony, inspired by some of the things in your videos. The horses just love the clicker and so do I! Its really heard of much in england most people shun it but im positive people will realsie what thier missing one day! x

once you've successfully taught your horse something using clicker training, do you need to do it consistently the same way everytime?for example would you have to click and treat every single time you ask the horse for that behaviour? Does it become reliant on the food or would a pat and a 'good boy' suffice once the behaviour is initially learned? I like the concept of clicker training but I don't like the idea of carrying a clicker and a fanny pack of treats every single time I go for a ride.

Doesnt clicker training induce them to bite later on? Arent they always looking for treats this way? Do you get to a point where you dont have to reward with treats?

New behaviors are trained with shaping, and like all good trainers, each little effort is reinforced. I am always asking for more behavior and raising the bar. One of the ways to do that is pay less for more effort, but this is a learned process so as not to frustrate the horse. I would ask you though....if NOT positive, that means the alternative is to keep behavior in place with pressure and aversives. Not really into that :-)
