@@JustMe-fo4ev I think Taz can afford it. A lot of younger people will inherit money when they are older. As of July 2024, 50% of UK adults own their own home. That's the equivalent of 26.4 million people across the country. 28% of Brits own their home outright, whilst 22% have a mortgage.

I am SHOCKED by the prices and the quality of places you've shown 😫 I left London in July 2022 and our last flat was next door to Victoria Park, 2 bedroom (old but well looked after by the landlord), in a safe, gated group of flats AND had a parking space included for £1800pcm.... You should look on KZbin for London rental/ flats. People show what they get for their money. And a lot of people are literally getting a bedroom and a sink that's about it! It's super crazy! Up here in Yorkshire you get so much for your money being in the country but close to main cities. My ex is paying £1k for a *mortgage* NOT rent, in the main city for a flat with a balcony. I come from the south and it's near impossible to move back down due to the sky rocketed prices! Xx

@natalia6788
@natalia6788 3 ай бұрын
It's similar, the problem is basically that you need 20% + mortgage costs to buy and most people don't have it because they pay rent, which is higher than what a mortgage would be so they're in a neverending loop. So investors and construction companies with money buy most properties to rent them, normally for tourists as they make a lot more profit. This is a huge problem especially in the islands as there are no places for the locals to rent and they have nowhere to go. Speculating with essential goods such as homes should be forbidden.

What amazed me when I lived in the Uk was... The ''don't give a fuck'' attitude I got from Real State Agents (they sometimes never show up, or they are quite dry and rude, also do not care about the flat if it is clean or not when showing the property) HAHAHAHA Sometimes I really thought it was a prank, I understand it's about culture... And loved living in the Uk but this was a real issue for me... Also I found pretty gross that some tenants did not give a fuck about cleaning, REALLY DID NOT GIVE A FREAKING FUCK HAHAHAHAHAHA it was beyond surreal. South East all the way! I always lived north of the river but moved south about 5 years ago and never looked back. Cheaper, more green spaces, more of a community feel with lots of stuff going on, lots of nice cafes, bars, restaurants (gentrified in lots of areas but not everywhere if you know where to look). Tbh people diss the transport but the Overground is basically as good as the tube - it's just a little less frequent so you may need to plan your journey a bit more, but it is also way more comfortable (with AC, less noisy, roomier so you basically always get on in rush hour). Plus, when there's a strike, you've got lots of train connections as well.

It’s so funny you showed the Sainsbury and I was like op you gonna like it around here. I used to live here and it was so so amazing, the prices is the reason we moved tho but we still think of our life here as the best we had in London.

Im so confused, so is this a new place for a temporary residence or the next step in life, so to say?

Considering it's renting, I think it's not really a question to be asked

She said it’s a temporary place so many times are you deaf? Her Current place is Doing their maintenance so she had to stay somewhere else for the time being!

Why? I was curious, too. Her current building is being renovated. So is she moving on? Or looking for a new place for the next couple of years. Seemed like a fair question to me. @myra0224

It’s very unclear what she meant. I thought it was her apartment. If they’re doing maintenance can they just throw you out and make you rent another place? I’m so confused

Those rents at three times my mortgage on a four bedroom house 😅😅 so lucky to be in the position to even consider that

I'm glad you said this. So my landlord keeps putting my rent up. They've owned this place for 25 years and insist they are barely covering the costs and/or they are 'subsidising' me, which I find highly unlikely unless they keep remortgaging to buy other properties, in which case I'm not that clued up on. It just infuriates me at how much they lie and how expensive it is
@MatthewCornish
@MatthewCornish 3 ай бұрын
@@x-starlight-x it depends on the type of mortgage they have - for some people mortgages have shot up over the last couple of years - though some landlords do put the rent up simply knowing they’ll be able to find someone willing to pay it if they out price their current tenants. I assume you’re not on one of these “all inclusive” rents and still have council tax and utilities to pay yourself.

Just outside of London is cheaper and nicer! I'm halfway between London and Brighton so 30 mins to London Bridge and 30 mins to the coast, am also walking distance to the countryside. You can get a nice 2 bed house for £1600 a month where I am with a proper garden!!

I live in Denver USA. We pay about 2000 for a one bed and 2500+ for 2 bed. I have been wondering for so long what it was like in other countries. Thanks for this video. I guess we’re all having the same housing issues. So expensive :(

If you have a budget of up to 2.3k, you're better off moving to somewhere a bit further from london and getting a much nicer house with more bedrooms. Theres still areas with underground/bus links that aren't in stupid expensive areas...

I live in a very affluent area of London and the prices are insane. I recently bought my first home - a one bed flat - and the prices up north, you get about 4x more for your money. Rent is even more ridiculous in the sense that a lot of mortgages would be less than the rent, even with the base rates still being so high! I wouldn't dream of leaving London though, I love it too much
