Thank you very much for all the tips! Can you do a video on editing a TV script?

Thank you for this, I appreciate it. Can I make a suggestion? If you move about a foot away from that wall, and open up the aperture with you in focus, drop the frame so there is less headroom and more of your torso, your wall background will become a lot more visually appealing.

A story I'm currently really struggling with to outline is a forbidden romance. I want the story to focus on how they advance their romantic relationship while keeping it a secret, instead of a "will they won't they" story. However, I'm afraid that not enough development of their closeness before the romance will make it feel unbelievable. These characters could go an eternity without plainly discussing their desires because it's dangerous and could ruin the bond they already share. To be as brief as I really can, one finds another's piece of writing that reveals her feelings for him (ahead of the time where she had planned to bring it up), and the two are forced to prematurely communicate about it. They decide to try a romantic relationship at the halfway point, and it continues until the climax where one is losing hope in a long-term future together and they must decide what must be sacrificed. I've got all this, but I'm so confused as to what the inciting incident would be and how early or late it should come. Is it when her hidden feelings for him are revealed to the reader? Is it when she starts to write, or when she finishes it? Is it when he finds and reads it?

Hi. OK this could be a long answer but… figure out the clear objective. Who is the hero, what do they want and why. Who is trying to stop them and why. This dramatic question creates the over all structure from which to create the basic beats. (you can get a free structure worksheet from our website). In your story I see this currently as a sub-plot - the love story - to a bigger dramatic story. Ie love during a corporate take-over or two detectives hunting a murderer. This love plot is really the story we want to see concluded but it’s contained within a more visual and dramatic story that has a ticking clock - and jeopardy. Depends on genre of course. The best stories have an objective plot - to get the murderer / sell the business etc. Also subjective plot - which is about resolving personal issues. Your story feels like it has the subjective plot nailed but what about the objective one? Hope this helps
