I’m 6months post-op n I hve clicking etc i believe i over my knee replacement. When I was 3 months post-of my knee replacement my husband fell and broke his ankle in 3 places and had to have surgery and everything fell on me taking care of , taking to the doctor etc plus I hve to take care of myself lol so I kindda associated my clicking , popping etc to an over worked knee. I’m still having pain but only if I stand or sit more 10-15 mins doing to much. But I guess I was wrong popping, clicking etc is normal. Thanks for the information and awaking.

How you described this is Exactly how and the same time frame that I have noticed with my knee that I am 7.5 weeks post surgery with. Thanks I was really starting to wonder why it was getting so clicky.

Ditto at 8 weeks. Feels like something is “popping out of the socket” but we’re that the case I am guessing there would be a lot more worse sensations.

I’m 2 years PO with both knees replaced and they both click. My Dr said it was normal. I’m starting to get use to it but sometimes it gets annoying.

I'm nearly 9 months out RTKR and my knee began clicking about a month ago. Not always, just occasionally. It makes me laugh actually. I can't believe I am finally at the point of laughing and enjoying this knee but I'm almost there! I can do single leg squats again...that was the moment I knew this was a God send. The knee does swell a bit though after exercise, hopefully that will resolve itself in time. Nice to have a place to talk about it! :)

Wow that is nice to know that's what the clicking was. I figured it was from the swelling.

Thank you so much for this. I had my right knee replaced last June. I am beginning to hear that clicking…is it because I have started to practice kneeling on this knee? I do not feel pain. I am going in for my left knee on April 26th. I value your content! Thank you so much! 🌸

Pam, 9 months po. While I understand that the noise and sensation is benign and possibly temporary, it's making me walk wrong unless I direct 100% of my attention to the movement. This involves lifting the hip slightly or not fully straightening, and probably a few other movements I'm not aware of. Normally the noise will disappear if I slow to a snail's pace, but many times I'll end up abandoning the walking session altogether because I don't want to train incorrectly. I feel like I already did enough of that over the past 10 - 15 years. Walking around to dance music is supposed to be fun, right? 😉

Clicking for my knee was present particularly during Qutpatient Therapy...At 7 months the Clicking only occurs when I am sitting and raise my leg to put on my shoes/boots...I experienced no pain...My hope and wish that the Clicking will go away at the 12 month period...If not .. I can live with it.

I have what you describe when I go to full flexion (125-130-degrees) and again when I straighten the leg. But it is not so much an audible “clicking” as what I feel with my hand on the knee. It’s more like a “speed bump” that I feel in my knee and hand. First reaction is to think something is “popping out of a socket”. Just started at 8 weeks post op.

*I just got my right knee replaced 2.5 months ago and so far my right leg is now 22mm's too long. Have any of you had a leg length discrefency of 22mm or more? If so did it reduce over time or are you wearing a heel lift for the rest of your life?* *I'm not going to have any revision to have it fixed if I'm stuck with it because the pain isn't worth it. Any thoughts?*

I had my knee and had to get heel lifts. My doctor said no length was added it was because my leg was know straight after the surgery. It was very annoying and cause me a lot of back issues. I bought several pairs of heel lifts so l wouldn’t have to keep removing them. Since the surgery I always wear closed end shoes to have the support of the heel lift. Left TKR done November 2020. I had a Right TKR done August 2021, no both legs are the same length.

heel lifts are annoying. Try putting additional insoles inside your short leg shoe. I just had leg lenghtening 3 1/2 inches and we left my leg still 1/2 inch short because I am going to have distal femur and hinge knee in August and will some day probably need a hip.

Can you help with exercises to strengthen the knee after tkr. I have good rom, no pain etc. I feel my knee is weak when bending. 2 yr since tkr. Thanks

I am 14 weeks post TKR. When I got full range of motion and finished with PT, I went to the gym to work on getting strength back in the leg by using leg weight machines. If a gym is not feasible you use ankle weights.

Don’t be… it’s tuff for a few days.. follow drs advice as far as medications and exercise goes ….and definitely watch all of these videos. Found it to be the best advice, help and peace of mind. I’m 12 months and 16 months post replacements…. Best thing I ever did… even though I very occasionally have a little discomfort if I do too much… but honestly I have a completely new lease on life. So happy.

@@thomasragusi6322 Don't worry...the pain after surgery will be formidable, but tolerable...use your meds for the pain. Ask your surgeon to order the machine that helps with getting back range of motion....Mine was a rental and was delivered to my home and I used it...what a great machine! It automatically moves your leg to get the r-o-motion back. Had it for 3 weeks and it worked great! Good luck!
