Client-centered sandtray battle with a young child

This a great teaching guide of what to do and what not to do. I have used this video for years in my sandtray trainings and point out what worked and what are some things that I would change as the clinican that may have interfered with his flow. Many young children battle and it is often difficult for clinicians to know how to battle with a child without being aggressive. As you can see in this video, for the majority of the session was the set up and he only got to the battle at the very end. Trusting the process and letting the child lead is most important. The work is often done in the set up and not the actual battle or story. At the end of the video, he took apart the tray and split up all the guys giving half to me and then integrated, having us make a circle together with all the guys working as a team and it was called "Battle Arena."
