Client with the chipping yips - how I fixed him. In this video golf tip I took a client of mine Mal who had the dreaded chipping yips to hitting much better chips with a simple drill. This has the potential to lower Mal's score by at least 4 shots which will get him down to his handicap goal of 14. At the very least. Honestly I think he will take more shots than that from his score.

My name is Brian Fitzgerald - I'm an Australian full time golf coach living in Melbourne and coaching at two venues. The Bayviews GC on the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne and the Lang Lang GC in South Gippsland (both an hour and a quarter from Melbourne) where there are lot's of Kangaroos.
FAQ:
How long have you been a golf coach? I qualified as a full member of the Australian PGA back in 1985. Wow I don't feel that old.
Why do you make videos for KZbin? That is a great question and one I get asked a lot. I love helping people play better golf and people tell me I have a very unique coaching style that is very simple to understand. We really should do things simpler. I just make them to help people and if people like my videos they can either come for a golf lesson in person or if that is not possible you could join my membership program and I can then view your golf swing or any part of your game and really help improve what you do.
Do you always change some ones golf swing? To be perfectly honest I try not to. If I do try to change some ones golf swing I have to have a pretty good reason for doing so and the client has to be fully engaged and committed to both regular coaching and practice in order to make that change. Most people say they will do both with good intentions but most fall away pretty quickly.
So my preference is to change things that will improve their score easily. There are so many different ways to do this.
What do you film with? - I have a few few different cameras I use. An old GoPro Hero 4, an iPhone 6 and iPhone X, A Sony ZV1 and an old Panasonic Handy cam (I'm using that less and less now). I record my sound on an old iPhone 4.
What do you edit with? - About a year ago I switched to Adobe Premiere - prior to that it was Pinnacle Studio
Do you make money off KZbin? - Yes.It took me over 100 videos to make my first total $100 off adsense and then another 50 videos to make my next $100. I think it will slowly change, but VERY slowly.
I really enjoy your videos, how can I support you? - Here's my ko-fi where you can buy me a coffee, beer or a burger should you wish (kind of like giving me a tip via : ko-fi.com/theg...
Thanks for watching!
Brian

Bay Views is well named. It is clear in the back ground. It’s funny this doesn’t feel like a video as it is a lesson which is what I do day in and day out. I’d love to do more more but people are camera shy. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I hope you are feeling better.

Thanks Brian and Mal, really like the real time instruction. I am frequently just off the green, it destroys my confidence when the chip shot is fluffed, I approach the next one in trepidation. I like the concept of keeping ball in between arms, to keep that V shape, rather than chicken winging it.

Oh Mike I feel your pain. Just like Mal it’s a real score killer. You would benefit from using the ball like we did in this video. Stay away from lofted clubs and let the ball run. Failing that give me a call and we can sort it out one on one. I am glad you enjoyed this style. I enjoy making them too.

My horror distance about 30-40 off the green, 3 options 60° Phil Mickelson one hop and stop aimed at the flag, 9i bump and run, Texas wedge and putt it on. When the confidence is low the putter is probably a 9/10 option. I know the worst putt is still going to be on the green. Really am considering adding a chipped to the bag, I figure a putting stroke with a chipped is going to be more reliable than a lofted wedge shot and a bump and run with a 8i or 9i. I do bump and run pretty much along the guidelines your demonstrating and will continue working on that shot routine. I too need to trim about 5 strokes off my h

Honestly Rob a chipper is a wasted club. You have a bag full of chippers. Stay away from lofted clubs keep it along the ground and just get it on the green. Forget Phil he is a freak. Putter is my first choice then a hybrid then a 5 iron then a 7 iron and then a 9 iron. Putting stroke with all these will work fine. Brian

I so agree with you mate, I would rather be 40-100m from the flag, so I can pitch it, than less, frequently I turn to the putter, but if grass is long or bumpy, not a very good result.

I used the ball with a seam visual today during my round. I didn't just use it for chipping and pitching, I used it throughout my round. I think it added stability and consistency to my swing and body/hands control. One round, so small sample size. But I'm going to try it again next time. Very pleased with today's round. Thanks.

I always had a challenging time silencing my hands, because I'm good with using them. I think this is a great method for chipping. Currently, I use my hands but very minimally. My biggest challenge is when I'm on lower terrain and I have to go over higher ground and I overshoot and it rolls to the other end of the green. Still working on that.
