I'll stick with my stylist because I get what I pay for. She's always on time, and gets my reties done in an hour! If I get color, it's a work of art, and she is about her business. If I don't get paid for another week, she'll look out for me and trusts me to Zelle her when my direct deposit hits. So I'll stick with her because I respect her and her skills.❤

Say IT!!!!❤❤❤❤ I do mine and my son's only. I learned by watching and reading. I've had people ask me who did our locs, but when they ask me to do their's. My response is I'm not a professional, I can play and mess up my own head. Without true training, no no M'am ❤

I went to a trainee and was one of her first clients outside her family and she told me that. She also had pictures and I was able to see the work she did on her family before she did mine. I had armpit length hair and she charged me $650 for my install because she appreciated me helping her get her business started. Two years later she still only charges me $100 for a retie and it because she appreciates that I took the chance with her and bring her clients.

My reties are one thing I will always pay and tip for. Lashes and nails may get set aside if things are tight but my hair is an investment.

You speak the truth! I love my Loctitian!!! She is a licensed cosmetologist, and in my opinion, she is excellent in her craft. I just started my micro locs this past June, so on the 24th of this month, I will be loced for 4 months. My install was $550, and that was including some products that she gave me as a starter kit which I still have a great deal of that left because I mostly use just distilled water in my hair. I pay $175 every 6 weeks for my retigh and she shampoos and everything. I love her. The best part is that she takes her time and she takes pride in her work! And an added bonus is that we get along well😊

I paid $600 in NY. She did a really nice job but is very flaky. After about two reties she stopped taking my calls. No warning, no discussion. I’m grateful for the lady who does my hair now . My hair has continued to progress nicely! Thanks Pauline, love your contents!

When do you practice patience and "trust the process" vs. finding another loctician? Can you do a video on this subject? My Sisterlocks where installed 14 months ago with the same loctician. I have a tight curl pattern and she uses a 4-point rotatio. I have a lot of loose ends, some holes in my locs and a ton of bunching....no chemicals or heat damage prior to my install (or after). My loctician wants me to braid my hair every night in 'sealy' braids. I think this contributes to my loose ends not locking. My loctician tells me to be patient and trust the process. I'm thinking I need another set of eyes on my hair to tell me if an incorrect technique is being used. Any thoughts?

I paid $800 for install and $30 per hour for retie. Usually retie is 2.5 to 3 hours. My consultant is trained in Sisterlocks and is on their website but I chose to do a twist/interlock combo. My hair is very dense and it started at about 8 inches. The parts are 1/4 in.

Thank you for this video. Very informative. I have been loc'd micro locs, for 1 yr and a half June 2022. I was charge $500 by a family friend she is very nice young lady she my retie once and then moved out of state for another job. I had to find another person. My current per is very quick and has been doing locs for a while i pay $230 including the tip.

Agree totally!! But keep in mind what we’re getting for the money. A lot of loctitians don’t shampoo or give an experience. Great advice on doing research - select your loctitian wisely.

I’m not licensed at all but I do care for my hair. The problem I have is the LIES 🤨 they automatically say “sisterloc” and when I asked are you “certified” they get attitude 🤨 and I do too! I got charged $175 for 341 braidlocs 12hrs 😢; then (6) week chk up/retie $150 I got GHOSTED 😱..Went to sm1 else her charge $150/8 wks and bumped up to monthly. In conclusion I combed them out and back to basic twist myself (75) and moved on 10/5 one month 😉

35 months Sisterloc’d and Retie price was $120 loctician increased Retie price to $140 plus tip $165 every 6wks. I want to Retie my own locs but scared I will mess the locs up so I pay for professionalism and convenience! If the Retie price goes up high then I will be visiting my loctician once every 4 months!

I used to pay $65 for a jerri curl. Yes jerri curl 😅 and in one year her price went up to $90! And it was at that time that I knew I needed to do my own hair. Thankfully I retighten my own locs. Saved a bundle! But everyone deserves to charge whatever price you want.

Wonderful video as always Pauline (same name as my mom by the way). I have a question, this is my third set of locs, and yes, the craft and art of locs have changed dramatically. I plan on these braidlocs being my last set but I, as others have mentioned, am having a hard time finding someone who will wash my hair, retire my hair, and possibly style my hair. It's like you gotta wash your own hair (to save time) for a lot of these new stylists. I have no problem paying for services that are rendered but usually there is very little talking and I have no idea what rotation they think is best or anything. The other problem is, that locating a new loctician is hard. Most AMAZING locitian's are booked up or are no longer taking new clients. Can you recommend a site where we can locate new lociticians? I am braid locked and understand, that most Sisterlock professionals don't have room on their books. Any site recommendations that we can go to?

I was charged for reties 320 for 407locs starting at 3" inches of hair now im at 9" reties 4 ½ weeks $160 or free by me because im nearly a certified Loctition. I invested in me!!!❤.

Yes, I had micro locs done and the price was 800$ then increased by 400$ her retie was 125.$ then when it was time to retie and wash my hair she once again increased to 275$ . I canceled all of my appointments with her and now a new loctician, who cares about my hair, and not money. What I love about her she is a licensed cosmetologist and a train Loctician. She cares about your hair health. Don’t get me wrong the one that started. My Locs did a phenomenal job, but she was not a Loctician she was self taught. It was all about the money she didn’t even give me what I asked for neither. No problem God will repay evil for evil , but I am grateful for my New loctician she gave me what I asked for originally. What’s.😂

For microlocs in Maryland, I was quoted $1500 for install in 6 inches of medium density hair. $250 for retie. I'm discouraged that it costs so much but understand why it costs so much. I haven't taken the plunge yet.

She didn’t have to be seasoned or an expert to charge that fee. If people find her valuable they will pay. If you don’t feel you provide a service that value of course you won’t charge that. That never means it’s too much.
