Awesome video! I can see that joining the Guild has some great perks! There's a lot of knowledge sitting in that virtual room.

I might have missed it, who was the second sharpener posting [thinning/finishing] examples to look out for @ 17:15 (I clocked Ryan, but didn’t hear the other name mentioned) Wanted to bookmark those shoutouts as I’ll probably join the forums after getting a few family and friend edges under my belts

I had Victorinox issue with Blueridge. The answer was , Victorinox will not sell if you do not have brick and mortar.

Regarding you selling your van...have you considered hiring/training another sharpener and having them run a route?

lawn mower blades (ie "mulching blades) - as a prior Sear's lawn and garden tech - you don't want to sharpen the transition or the high area. The idea is the lower part cuts the grass and the upper part tears and shreds the grass that was cut, so it decomposes faster. Leaving the upper part unsharpened with all the dings will shred the grass. Educate your customer about how the blade works and why only the lower part gets sharpened.

I learned a lot from the guys at the Guild and this type of information is often overlooked. I appreciate you sharing.

Cliff and Paul in the same video is a crossover episode we all deserve!

8:50 - From what ive heard, Global exclusively use A45 trizact belts in their factory for sharpening. Or so they said in an article I read at least. I kinda assume that has more to do with economics and how long they last and not so much whats best for the blades, those belts get hot real fast.

Jaon was one of the first instructors I was blessed to meet several years ago now. It was very special to be able to present him with a lifetime achievement award at last years Western Sharpeners Roundup.

I'm assuming you have to be a guild member to be in these chats? Great information and I really enjoyed the discussions.
@EricsWormPlayground21 күн бұрын
Yes, the chats are a weekly or every other week thing. If you sign up for a week trial, you’ll be able to experience one in addition to the tutorial videos and documents.

I don't know where Orlando is in sharpening, but if you need an apprentice or someone to learn with, I live in your area. I'm pretty new to this.

Dont give the Guild ANY money! the information is out there for free, dont be a sucker.
@CurryCustomCutlery23 күн бұрын
I can respect your opinion but maybe not the way you present it. The guild offers a value for value exchange has many people that are very happy to be a part of that group for some it doesn't work or other is a clearly does.

@@CurryCustomCutlery short and to the point. I dont want, or need to beat around the bush how the guild was started by a guy who has never really been a full time sharpener.
@EricsWormPlayground21 күн бұрын
The info is out there, but the guild has 2 things going for it. The tutorials and the community support. I’d venture to say the community support, people helping each other is the biggest part of the value the guild brings.
@EricsWormPlayground21 күн бұрын
To your reply, Matt might not be a full time sharpener, but he gathered people that are and help each other. Your point is valid if people were joining to learn from Matt only, but that’s not true.
