The late 50s and 60s were great years and the best days of my life. I'm now 79, and I would go back to the 60s at a drop of a hat.

It’s wonderful to see Alma at her radiant best. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if there were more lost gems from Alma found and released once again.

I lived in a pub in Addlestone then. The Wagon and Horses. We had a juke box in the dart room, rare, first Cliff I remember was Travelling Light. When you think the Billy Cotton Bandshow was big then, this was revolutionary. Tommy Steele, Lonnie Donegan, all started off the 60s. Pete Murray and 6/5 Special etc.

The undeniable treat here is the bass turned up loud and distinctive. Sadly often mixed nearly mixed right out on the records we bought at the time. The called it hifi, but unless the family could afford a readio station quality sound system, it were difficult to hear all that was happening on the recording. Alma cogan was music business establishment. My aunt, not much older than myself, bought all Alma's recordings sat around with her friends from pharmacy college smiling and swaying like a field of golden daffodils 😂

Super !

This is why the Beatles were put into suits. Money making establishment making sure they appealed to the mums and dads but the whole point of rock and roll was to rebel. Cliff and the Shads sold out sadly but then they weren't the only ones.
@Lily_The_Pink9722 ай бұрын
I understand why you say that, but their music is as popular today as it was back then. Cliff's tours are always sold out with fans going multiple times. And Cliff still performs these rock and roll classics. He and the Shads didn't do too badly from 'selling out'.
@MrBuffalo22 ай бұрын
Listen to Hank Williams Move it on Over..it predates Rock Around the Clock by at least 6years..all popular music is an evolution of what went before.the Beatles wouldn't gave got to where they were by only playing rock n roll.. They got the suits too!

Yes but they looked super cool in suits…

This was the industry tamed version of the shads.The cats,especially the bass player,had a far punkier image a year previously Proof that rock roll,tuff guy image and screaming girls existed long before the Beatles and Stones 'invented ' it

This is a sterile, lame, pale imitation, of what was going on in America. It is cringeworthy.
