"We Don't Talk Anymore" is a song recorded by Cliff Richard that reached number one in the UK Singles Chart in August 1979, remaining there for four weeks.[2] Produced by The Shadows' rhythm guitarist, Bruce Welch, and written by Alan Tarney, it was Cliff Richard's tenth UK number one and his first since "Congratulations" in 1968.

Oh I love Cliff Richard... The oldest living bachelor he is 81 and he said his father passed away when he was young and he said he needed and wanted to take care of his mother and sister and he said he really thought things through before entering the business cause he said if he did this he wouldn't ever have a normal relationship so if he does become a singer he would not ever get married and he said he actually did this so he could take care of his mother and sister... Sir Cliff Richard is 81 and still looks just like he did in 70s and 80s just has the grey hair now... A very handsome man...

@@EmpressReacts I know i'm replying to something you wrote a year ago Empress and you probably know a lot more facts by now, but what many, many people Don't realise is the figure of 250 million records sold by Cliff Richard: was first estimated in August 1990. For Wikipedia to even 'print' that on screen 1 year ago (like so many other sites and newspapers have mistakenly done) is saying that Sir Cliff has not sold any records since August 1990! - It's ludicrous! The CRO - Cliff Richard Organisation will tell you his sales are now in excess of 300 million records sold. Though truthfully it's much more because this doesn't take into account resales from: second hand stores, record fairs, charity shops, antique shops, boot fairs, collectors websites etc etc!😀♥♥xx

Well said Lisa. He is simply the GOAT. I truly believe that Elvis Prickly had an impact on Cliff not really breaking the USA, especially when you consider Cliff's first 50 hits were all via EMI UK, a spin off of the EMI USA parent company. Elvis was already in decline from 74 to his death in 77 and, frankly, could not lace Cliff's boots, albeit Cliff would strongly disagree.

Cliff is amazing -- from 1958 until today, he's still releasing hits. So much of the music he made in the 1970s - 1990s is fabulous, and right now he has a Top Five album in Britain -- one of the greatest singers of all-time. This is eight decades in a row he's had a Top Five album in the UK! Only The Beatles and Elvis have sold more records, I believe. You have great taste in music and I love your enthusiasm!

@Empress , You should listen to more Cliff Richard especially when he was young , songs like " Bachelor boy " , " Living Doll " , " Summer Holiday " , " Daddy's Home " & " The Young One's " . Cliff is a massive name in the pop world 14 no.1 singles, 68 Top 10s and a whopping 124 Top 40 hits.. As a solo male artist only Elvis Presley has had more No.1's than Cliff . Now Sir Cliff as he was Knighted by the Queen twice first in 1980 with an OBE ( Order of the British Empire ) & in 1995 Knight Bachelor .

Cliff Richard was the 2nd biggest solo male singer in England! He had had 7 #1 in England in their album chart in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s and has amassed 30 top 5 albums and 46 top 10 albums! His 105th album, “Music... The Air That I Breathe” The album entered the English Albums Chart at # 3, which made him the first artist to make the Top 5 for 8 consecutive decades (1950’s to 2020’s!!!). This stats are off the chart! In the US, he has had 5 charted albums, the highest going to #76! He has had 17 songs chart in the US and only had 9 Top 40 hits from 1959 to 1981! He is sooo incredibly underrated here!:( My favorite from him are this track and “Dreamin’”💕

Sadly this year's tour has been postponed due to covid. He is 80 now, but his concerts are still very rock n roll and people still run to the stage to dance. The ladies love Cliff in his leather trousers. 🙂 He is quite amazing, the reaction he still gets. He had a hit with Devil Woman in the States. Maybe you have heard of that song ? I don't think John said that at all. He is on record as stating there was nothing in the UK of significance before Cliff and the Shadows. He is also on record as stating MOVE IT was (and probably still is), the UK'S most important bona fide rock and roll track. McCartney is also on record in stating that the Beatles had to test out Germany as Cliff and the Shadows had the UK market entirely sewn up. Interestingly, everyone still associates Abbey Road Studios with the Beatles, but McCartney will tell you Cliff practically owned the place, and they could only book there once Cliff had finished recording there first. John Lennon even personally asked Cliff to delay the release of a single in order for the Beatles to release their 2nd single. Cliff kindly obliged, and, as they say, the rest is history. No one must ever underestimate our Cliff and his unparalleled UK and European success. America's loss, sadly, but that is down to Elvis Prickly killing off Cliff over in the USA, such was his concern as to how good our Cliff was,.... and still is. Elvis couldn't lace Cliff's boots.

I didn't buy it either but roommates I had 15 years ago did, I never owned a Beatle record either. I was in kindergarten when Lennon died and an admirer of my mother got her the Double Fantasy record so we always had that in the house. John Lennon not anyone else within the content of the DVDs said Cliff Richard was the only British musical act to have had success in America before the Beatles came here. Wether it's true or not I never professed, I merely stated what my eardrums heard John Lennon say in a segment. Though the name Cliff Richard isn't a name an average American under the age of 55 would know like they all know who the Fab 4 were, The Who, Rolling Stones, but Cliff had at least 4-10 hit songs in the USA both before the Beatles and long after they disbanded

For something a bit different (but equally good) from Sir Cliff, why don't you give "Devil Woman" a try next?

@@EmpressReacts He's birth name is Harry Webb and Cliff Richard is his stage name he did legally change his name sometime in the 1980's though because of the confusion of having two names on his pass port
