I am so happy Em is sober. Some of his new stuff has been powerful motivation for me personally. I'm also happy for his daughters that he didn't leave the world that day. I know Proof wouldn't have wanted him to go out like that either.

I love how the older we get the cooler sobriety is.... So many people from my middle and high school that should not be alive today who are sober now with beautiful kids and families... We should have all died! We did lose some though... And it's so sad to not get to see them on their sober journey....

"Roll up on you like Christopher Reeve" is probably his most insulting, wicked lyric next to "the world will stop spinning when Michael J. Fox comes to a standstill." Eminem put out so many wicked lyrics, listening to his songs was the same as watching episodes of South Park. Nobody was safe from getting roasted.

Nice. I just saw you do Rain Man. I could always tell when he was high on pills. I am glad you are Listening now that you are older. And he can be very funny. Been listening to him since the 90s. He is still my fav. Was there during Tupac and Biggie. Sad times And there are so many. Listen to a lot in the 80s. Spent a lot of my time at my bro in laws hip hop recording studio. I was Around 11/12 then. I’m a bit older than Marshall. But also the youngest in the family so had older siblings. And so much music I am sure I shouldn’t have even been listening to as started young. And music is in our blood. I enjoy watching you see them again now that you are older. I do enjoy it. Thx. Wow back then so many colors and names for drugs. My youngest child. She is the same age as Hailie. And my kids grew up listening to Em. And still do. My daughter shows up I can hear her blasting it in her car. As for him clean. Most definitely. Or there would be no more music. And he most likely wouldn’t another one taken way to young. I like his music either way. To me he is the same person. Just not taking pills anymore. And he just does what he loves.

Dude I'm so glad you chose the explicit version. There's lots of songs I wouldn't give two shit if you reacted to the edited version but in case you don't the "clean version" is called Purple Hills the WHOLE chorus is different and they have to change like half the lyrics in the song. "I've been so many places, I've seen so many faces but nothing compares to these blue and yellow purple hills." The only other one I remember is "cool calm just like my mom with a couple of lawsuits inside her palm" and think he said in the clean one "this room makes me hallucinate" instead of saying shrooms. But trust me this is one song where listening to clean version sounds like Kidz Bop got drunk and tried to make a Kidz Bop version of this. It's so absurd

As someone taking Hydrocodone for Pain I'm glad Marshall is off them if he's not needing it for pain. I wish Marshal would go back to his old sound but off the pills. And he did with Bezerk imo. I never felt like this was an encouragement to do drugs as a teenager. I never experimented with anything mentioned in the song I don’t think (I never had any desire to hallucinate or risk flashbacks later in life, I’d had enough of needles from doctors from catching random illnesses several times that were unusual enough it took a mountain of tests & probably about a gallon of blood draws put together to diagnose before they could treat, snorting stuff just seemed gross, especially without actual evidence of what it was, and I had asthma almost till I was 20 so I wasn’t going to smoke much of anything, especially anything I’d seen people high on/withdrawing from before and they scared me in the “I don’t ever want to be in their shoes” kind of way. I always heard this song as being more of a warning of the slippery slope the hard drugs can be. Like a sped up version over the long-term or what CAN happen in just one night, even by accident, with harder drugs (harder than pot, or controlled responsible use of prescription drugs taken as directed (like I’ve done since 2015-2016 for my genetic dysfunction (gene mutation that causes systemic problems and severe chronic pain that specialists have compared to the pain of having cancer w/ chemo and radiation w/o progress in recovering) without ever increasing my dose or taking anything more often than prescribed) I mean).

Another thing to add here is that fans who are part of a huge fanbase and who are so attached to artists who have been around for so long, they expect the artist to sound a certain way. When the artist reinvents himself or experiments with their sound, such people feel alienated. This is especially true of artists who have been around for a long time. I first saw it happening with Linkin Park - when they moved away from the sound that made them famous a part of their fanbase felt alienated - they expressed it as LP having fallen off or sold out. The thing is, how many times can you expect an artist to paint the canvas with the same set of tools and the same one color? Artists have the right to reinvent their sounds and experiment. There would be the same amount of people would be unhappy if he never changed. He'd then be called boring, stagnant or a one trick pony.

Okay - imma say it, here: TURNS OUT, I dodged a bullet with my crowd - drinking, smoking, "experimenting" at 14 with my best friend, her brother and whole crowd. I bounced a couple of times out of boredom - didn't know what the hell else to do - then finally moved on for good at 18,19. Cut to my late 20s, she's randomly in line in front of me at Walgreens with track marks, trying to finagle an early opiate refill. Years later, in Nursing school, I end up doing a 1:1 suicide watch - it's her mom, who apparently made an attempt the year after her son (my "first") OD'd on heroine while my friend was too high to notice and call anyone. Painful part (beside learning of his death) was, our comradery, connective flow, jokes were all the same and as easy as when we were close, when she came in to visit her mom that day - likely during a rehab period. Now, I'm a woman with hundreds of shoes, puzzles, nail polishes, clothes, blurays, DVDs, etc.. My compulsion is real. It took 20 years and one OD attempt before my entrenched depression reached remission. If I had that one little gene flip, or hit that one drug that made opioids my compulsion, I'd have been dead or on the same rehab cycle as the survivor a looong time ago...

you talking about when em has a chip on his shoulder and the revival hate... i think about that a lot. i remember when the revival tracklist leaked and people trashed it like crazy purely based on the features being all singers/pop stars. and then walk on water was hated just because the track was very bare (i enjoyed that but em said it was left that was since he only heard what skylar had sent & it was just a piano so he wrote to it that way), and then the whole album got trashed, people hated the samples, people hated that he wanted to speak on politics (as if he hadn't in the past), people hated the silly songs on it, people didn't want to like the songs with features, it was people who wanted the old em constantly complaining (along with critics and others), but i felt like revival tried to cater to every possible person honestly. you can tell with relapse, the hate & criticism never bothered him because he also listened to the album back and was bothered by what he was doing on it. he didn't like the accents, he didn't like the whole serial killer thing he was really deep into. even to this day he does not say anything good about relapse. revival on the other hand, he's never changed his mind that it's a good album but was unfairly judged before anyone heard a single song. he even mentioned that dre hated how people talked about revival, and how castle & arose are some of the best songs he's ever written but people didn't give the album a chance and didn't hear them. had he not felt so strongly that revival is actually a good album i don't think we'd have gotten kamikaze, or anything that followed honestly. but em with a chip on his shoulder, when he feels backed into a corner, that truly is when some of his best work does come out and maybe that's because that's how he got into the game. man, i love him.
