Could the zoo go in that space on the hill the other side of the train tracks/ road (the other side of Bedford), or is that too far out? Could be a nice large space for it. Also, no idea if it’s at all possible but would LOVE to see something like a heritage steam railway serving the zoo!
@SaulKohn2 жыл бұрын
Love this idea! Might help the commercial demand. Maybe there could be some urban farming happening nearby the zoo (like in and around Philadelphia) that could go into feeding the animals? That could help the industrial demand at the same time.
@Cameronb282 жыл бұрын
I think the space across from Bedford is great for the zoo too. I think he should sink the highway down, I don't think an entrance/exit is necessary for Bedford but it can be done if needed. A sunken highway would allow a lot of connections across to the grass area from Bedford. I also think he should name the part where he added the quay across from the festival island, Bedford Riverwalk and turn it into a park area.

The big mostly disconnected area near the downtown should be the new mansion area, like Malibu or something, and keep the connections minimal so that traffic stays limited. and build a "tour" bus to transport people to and from the area.

The SF inspired area looks so damn good! I was thinking you can probably remove or change the ridiculous tiles in the amusement park using BOB. I think there is a wooden floor tiles option in the zoo/nature park asset that might fit the entire Fort look a bit better. The blue and red tiles are just very odd looking. Also i don't mind the longer time lapses, the enthusiasm on rediscovering what you did when you talk over it just never fails to put a smile on my face!

18:15 I agree on that, cities sometimes develop in ways that don't make sense. Prime real estate on top of a hill near the sea with beautiful lookout spots? Nope, industrial and offices zone. Maybe it could be redeveloping? a couple of industrial looking residential buildings? That could be awesome there too
@Rebeccanorth29942 жыл бұрын
You could call the theme park "Elizabeth Towers", Partially because it already has Elizabeth in its name, but partially because the Queen of England is called Elizabeth and it is built in a castle (Obviously). Another name could be "Catastrophe Castle" (I prefer this one)

The commercial demand isn't just commercial, it is also the demand for entertaiment. The commercial entertaiment like leisure and tourism, but also parks and recreational buildings. Unaware of this you can end up with a overkill of commercial and still a commercial demand. (just incase you didn't know!)

I grew up in San Francisco and watching this series evolve into something inspired by my home makes me so happy ! The tennis courts/apartments/commercial buildings you put in next to the theme park reminds me of the USF dorms and tennis courts in the Panhandle, Coit Tower is on POINT, the cliffside road is beautiful. I live in Montana now and I miss my city every day ! One thing you could add, not sure if they have it in the workshop, but Sutro Tower is a big radio tower on top of a hill in SF, you can see it anywhere in the city and it is one of the only buildings you can see poke out of the fog when it gets really thick. ANYWAYS, so happy you're doing this series, I wait for a new episode every day :)

I really enjoy the long time lapse because it allows you to get more accomplished per episode while still enabling us to see the process. It lets more custom areas and detailing as well, such beautiful work. I think it would be neat to make a little secret beach with a path coming down the national park through the arched rocks. Also is there a way to manipulate assets to make large bungalows in trees to make large treehouses for the national park. For reference disney world has some in the wilderness lodge I believe. A fun idea for the old mansions is to leave them or make them look rundown and turn it into a lookout point where youngsters go to make out and party.(Did the senior living area ever get some love… I don’t recall.)

If you want some San Francisco vibes to look at I recommend taking some inspiration from the neighborhood called Bernal heights. It’s a residential neighborhood on top of a hill surrounded by highways that separate it from old industrial neighborhoods. It would be perfect inspiration for filling in that hill.

The highway running next to the cliff and the sea reminds me of the sea cliff bridge along the pacific highway near Sydney. Thank you as ever James.

Urban zoos are often tied into large parks. It would be cool to turn part of the hill across from the highway in to a large park with a zoo incorporated into it, or place the zoo on the island next to the hill. Next to downtown should really be another high density neighborhood with a cool beach front IMO. Over all, the city is looking super awesome! keep up the good work!!

Maybe the mansion area could be some kind of city forest? Kind of a quiet place close to the downtown for people to relax and walk dogs. Also a few lookout points would go nice. Maybe there could be some historical tower or mini fortress there as well as it seems like a defensible position. You could take a look at the park at Mount Saint Peter in Maastricht (Netherlands) for some loose inspiration.

I suggested this a few episodes ago but you put other things in the place I suggested lol; anyway, a government quarter to the left of the downtown area might be cool and add to the realism of the area (where you pointed to the zoo). The tax office, city hall, courthouse, and potentially workshop government buildings are what I'm thinking, arranged in a planned manner. So the CBD is the skyscrapers then next door is the govt! I think the zoo could look great on the hilltop that you're mentioning is now really separated from Bedford. Zoos generally look for those natural features so animals have large enclosures and the rest of the city/area is blocked. There'd be no reason for needing access underneath the new train and highway! Anyway, I love the city, I love your work, the time lapses are so soothing, and we get to see a lot more done in an episode. Love it dude!

The big empty area between Bedford and the downtown feels like the perfect place for a university to me, but I don't know if the city really needs two yet. I’m not sure the name of the street or area but it’s in California near the coastline with very interesting mansions that hang along the cliffs of the ocean. Similar to Iron Man house in the movie. The peach bus lost much of its original purpose ... maybe you look specifically at the two parts of the route that are not covered by the yellow tram: 1:14:22 It could still be a (alternative) connection between the cable car and Myrtle and cover the area on the other side of the rail tracks. Maybe also give Primrose access to Myrtle station. 1:12:40 Peach and blue bus lines almost form a loop - but a rather broken loop. Blue line is just going one way, peach is serving just a section. If Peach line is cut back to do its thing in Myrtle, the red bus line could step in and serve the opposite direction of the loop. Tram stops of the yellow line could be moved to the intersections with the loop to improve transfers ...

Love what you’ve done this episode, it really brings this area of the city together. One recommendation I’d give is to get a different bridge for that new bridge you built at the point, I think the one that’s there looks too thin and too tall to be built the way it is.
