I'm chilling on my back porch with some scrambled eggs, left over grilled chicken, toast and a beer. Watching the grass grow and looking at the woods. Got two more days off before work, and now some good banjo music playing. In a couple months my new wife is going to join me. Damn, life is good.

Clifton Hicks is the next Clifton Hicks!I'm not sure what to say but that he's a complete bada** with his own sound and I owe him a ton of money cause I listen to him all the time while I'm working sooo...(hands in pockets, lookin' round whistling at clouds)Top shelf artist with obvious love and knowledge of his craft.A craft that tells us who we are in a deep sense. His videos are proof of his hard work and dedication to preserving an important part of our history. Thank you Mr. Hicks

When Brian Jones first played a Robert Johnson record for Keith Richards, Keith asked who was playing with him on the second guitar not realizing Johnson was doing it all himself live(on the record). That’s what Mr. Hicks at his best makes me think of, Misters Johnson, Jones, and Richards.

A marvellous performance of An incredibly upsetting song. The essence of blues - tell your story and hope the audience appreciate the horrors it contains. This story seemed to take its toll of the artist too.

@@td4dotnet I’d say he not only tries to pack in a lot of notes; I’d say he succeeds. They are more than a few players out there who try to impress their audience with their speed and in the end it just comes across sounding like a runaway train while they’re saying,”look at me, ain’t I talented.” Jerron Paxton isn’t one of these. He’s obviously a master of his instrument

Hey clifton. Idk how often you check your comments. But I was wondering if someday you could do a banjo version of "I been all around this world" not the one you did about working for John henry. I think it was originally done by greatful dead? But I really like the way Foghorn Stringband played it. I was born and raised in southwest Virginia smack dab in the valley between the blue ridge mountains and Appalachian mountains. And that song always makes me think of home. I've been working in Michigan for the past 5 years and have only been able to visit a handful of times

wonderful playing! I believe that this song can be traced back to at least 1848 from an unknown black composer, but I only know that from Jerron Paxton's rendition.
