Mine just came in today, tried it on the pine tree i climbed with my summit viper. I will say the reaper did not like that, not sure if it was the tree or not but the bottom platform wouldnt really dig into tree and would wiggle back and forth. Also another complaint i have is theres not much room between bar and seat. But other than that its super light and perfect for bow hunting

interesting they got rid of the straps to connect the bottom to the top while climbing and used while set to keep the set locked to the tree when you stand up. The straps on my xop ambush have saved me a couple of time this year when the bottom slipped off my feet and fell down. I was able to pull the bottom back up evenly and lock it back on the tree so I could get my feet back in to it. I like this stand though. I am a big guy and the only bad thing about the ambush is that my but does not fit between the bars. I carry a removable seat I made out of a board and foam that sits on top of the bars so that I can sit comfortably.

From the reviews I'm reading, if you're used to the stability of an API, you won't like this stand. Several guys said the teeth slip on some trees. As a user of an API grandslam since they came out (long time ago), they don't ever slip on any tree.

@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors The original Grand Slam full containment. Simple, quiet, extremely sturdy and comfortable. NEVER slips on ANY tree....black gum, hickory, etc. That's the ONE thing I insist any climber do....grip ANY tree. From the reviews I've read, there seems to be an issue with that. I understand that API has been discontinued.....hope someone picks it up again. Best stand ever made, IMHO. A little bit on the heavy side, but I'm 64 and don't mind the weight because of the supreme stability. You should do a video climbing different (hard barked) trees. @@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors I was super interested until I saw that part and it instantly made me go, no I’m good 😂 it might work great for some folks but the less time I spend setting up and climbing the happier I am.

@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors your right, my mistake but for a few extra pounds the comfort is worth it. The mini x1 runs in at 11 pounds and I feel like it's a death trap. Typically nowadays I saddle hunt with traditional gear and am at 9 pounds with sticks 6 pounds with gaffs. It's all on what you can afford and feel comfortable carrying in and sitting on.

7:28 "Could you use this bar to sit on like this to go up? Absolutely." NO. Do not do this. It sheared those bottom loops clean through, Day 1, 220lbs. Now here's to hoping XOP will send me some new loops.......

The stand comes with a tag on the bar that says do not use as a sit bar. Shooting rail only.

@@dustinbunch3804 Yeah. I noticed that too after the fact. But it directly contradicts all of the previews of the stand.
