interesting they got rid of the straps to connect the bottom to the top while climbing and used while set to keep the set locked to the tree when you stand up. The straps on my xop ambush have saved me a couple of time this year when the bottom slipped off my feet and fell down. I was able to pull the bottom back up evenly and lock it back on the tree so I could get my feet back in to it. I like this stand though. I am a big guy and the only bad thing about the ambush is that my but does not fit between the bars. I carry a removable seat I made out of a board and foam that sits on top of the bars so that I can sit comfortably.

From the reviews I'm reading, if you're used to the stability of an API, you won't like this stand. Several guys said the teeth slip on some trees. As a user of an API grandslam since they came out (long time ago), they don't ever slip on any tree.

@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors The original Grand Slam full containment. Simple, quiet, extremely sturdy and comfortable. NEVER slips on ANY tree....black gum, hickory, etc. That's the ONE thing I insist any climber do....grip ANY tree. From the reviews I've read, there seems to be an issue with that. I understand that API has been discontinued.....hope someone picks it up again. Best stand ever made, IMHO.
