The use of renewable energy sources such as solar and biogas is one way to fend off climate change. This is because renewable energy sources do not emit carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. This video looks at how coffee farmers can substitute traditional non-renewable energy sources with more efficient sources of energy.
About the Climate Academy Guide
This video is the sixth of an 8-part series adopted from the Climate Academy Guide (fairtradeafrica.net/manuals/), a manual developed by Fairtrade Africa with the support of Fairtrade Netherlands, the Dutch Postcode Lottery, and the expert input of Coffee Research Institute. The guide is designed to provide practical information, equipping farmers with skills and insights to conduct environmental risk and opportunity assessments on their farms, identify the extent to which they are exposed to the effects of climate change, and further determine the most effective approaches to mitigate the impact. The contents of the Climate Academy Guide may be adopted to teach coffee farmers around the world about climate change adaptation and mitigation.
