This modeling is closer to theology than to science. Science is very simple. It is all about data. And the raw unfiddeled data do not support the claims made by these guys. A hypothesis which does not fit to the data is simply false. And all predictions made by these modellers have been wrong so far. Spending tax money on this nonsense is fraud and should be persecuted as such.

Devoti I do not blame these poor scientists. They are only tools. They did not find a good job in industry and have to scratch a living by doing this nonsense. I blame the decision makers behind these poor guys. And in the end when the hoax is exposed the decision makers will excuses themselfves by saying "I am not a scientist, I belived these scientists.". These poor scientists are traped in thier net of lies. I know what I am talking about. I studied physiks and Chemistry. I am working for more than 20 years as a scientist in the chemical industry and I see how my old friends which stayed at the universty have to stuggel for research funds.

Based on your last answer, I assume that you have no scientific background at all and you have not the ability to understand even the most basic physiks and chemistry of this issue. This makes you an easy prey for this propaganda. In case that you have not the time to go into the basics of physiks and chemistry, check the original data against the claims made by these computer gamers. Or have a look at the climate gate mails. Even without any formal education you will realise that somthing strange is going on there.

I am sure you are a good guy who feels responsible for the "world". I would recomend, that we continue this discussion in approx. 20 years, when we are deeper in the comming solar minimum. Meanwhile I will continue flying my privat airplanes and having fun burning huge amounts of fossil fuel.

Bill responds to the question of the economic impacts of reducing carbon emissions, sighting Germany and California as examples that have made changes and are still doing well. Both of these states are relative economic juggernauts that could perhaps absorb the economic mitigation of such policies, what about poorer states or nations? Developing nations? I agree that the future costs of not acting is something we must factor in, but what about the weaker economies now?

Make no mistake, Germany has not raised wages in 20 years, hast cut social spending drastically in the same time frame, and halved wages by introducing the Euro (prices largely kept their numerical values from D-Mark days, while wages did not), has neglected its infrastructure and is deeply in dept. Just recently, one of our last big turbine manufacturers left the country, and one of our most prominent steel manufacturers was bought by an indian company. Energy prices have risen extremely: About one third is just for funding renewable energy. Add to that the influx of some 1-2 million illegal immigrants, which will generate additional costs in the billions. So, "doing fine" is really relative, and none of those problems is solved by current policies regarding climate change, so I wonder how politicians will try to convince a populace that is growing poorer and poorer to invest even more of their money, that they don't have, into expensive climate-friendly technology. And disregarding all that, Germany adds about 4% of gloabl CO2 emissions. I forgot the number, but look at what China is doing and is projected to do, look at the projected population growth in Africa, and it becomes very clear, to me at least, that every effort that we undertake will at the best help a little, and at the worst help not in the slightest while at the same time plunging the country into poverty. Oh, and the "30% renewable" number is literally fake news: It was reached for a few days last year, and our installed capacity in renewables is already as high as our consumption. The problem is just that the sun does not shine for half a day, and the wind does not blow constantly.

I understand the earth's temperature has risen with 1C in 150 years. I assume this means the seawater has gotten warmer and has been expanding. I also understand that ice has been melting for 150 years now. Given this information, I would expect the sea level to have risen with about 1 meter (based on the explanation at 9:00). However, the real rising of sea levels in 150 years is about 30cm. Can someone explain this difference to me?
@waynepatterson5843
@waynepatterson5843 2 жыл бұрын
M V E --- I understand the earth's temperature has risen with 1C in 150 years. Wayne Patterson --- That is incorrect due to inaccuracy, because the Climate Change Alarmists have proposed a range of temperature increases greater than 1C; i.e.1.5C, 1.6C, etc. The total change in temperature over a stated period of time is always expressed by the Climate Change Alarmists as a fraction of a degree C/F per decade and for the total time period. The use of fractional degrees by the Climate Change Alarmists is one of the many reasons why their claims are instantly falsified in science due to the mathematical impossibility of using the original temperature observations recorded as rounded whole numbers of degrees F/C to subsequently compile the Climate Change Alarmists' pseudoscientific average expressed in fractions of degree which did not exist in the precision of the original observations, real and imagined. That is just one of many inaccuracies in the temperature data which are due to imaginary data claims fabricated by the Climate Change Alarmists. M V E --- I assume this means the seawater has gotten warmer and has been expanding. I also understand that ice has been melting for 150 years now. Given this information, I would expect the sea level to have risen with about 1 meter (based on the explanation at 9:00). However, the real rising of sea levels in 150 years is about 30cm. Can someone explain this difference to me? Wayne Patterson --- The discrepancy in the sea levels hypothesized by the Climate Change Alarmists versus observed is due to the imaginary temperatures and sea level data used by the Climate Change Alarmists to fabricate their sea level claims and Climate Change pseudoscience.

Wow. I'm not even going to watch all this video as the first speaker is putting out misleading information. We have not changed the composition of the atmosphere dramatically at all. It is still nitrogen 79%. oxygen 20%, Argon just under 1%, and trace gasses combined just over 0.04%. The most prominent trace gas is CO2 at 0.04%, up from 0.028% a couple of centuries ago. It is highly unlikely this tiny increase in a trace gas would be detectable from space. Just because people give an impression of intelligence, does not mean they are always right. All humans are prone to subjective opinions including the best educated.

Now what? How about doing something other than myopically ignoring everything except CO2? The issue is the earth's net energy balance, and CO2 is only a (small) part of it. We can also affect how much energy enters the environment. We can change building codes in all warm areas to require white, heat-reflecting roofs on all buildings. These roofs send the sun's energy back into space without being absorbed, thus dramatically reducing the energy available to warm the climate. A "cool roof" can reflect 80% of the sunlight that hits it while traditional asphalt shingles absorb 80%. Cool roofs reduce energy consumption by ~30%, which reduces fuel use and pollution to produce it. Local temperatures (urban heat island effect) are reduced by several degrees. This one change--which doesn't require treaties, taxes, carbon markets, or extra policing--reduces warming, improves comfort, reduces fuel consumption, and pays for itself. Yet these folks don't talk about it because it isn't "carbon." Similarly, parking lots can be covered with heat reflecting canopies to provide shade, and floating heat reflectors can be installed in reservoirs to reduce evaporation and prevent warming. It's also shocking that if we really believe we're at a tipping point, why aren't we testing aerosols? Many experts claim we already have the ability to completely stop warming. Where are the experiments (or rather, the funding) to prove/disprove the claims? Those claiming it should be a last resort are like a doctor in a community ravaged by smallpox and polio holding off on using vaccines.

That you are not a professional scientist is evident in your observations about "earth's net energy balance". Your unfortunate remark that "folks don't talk about it because it isn't 'carbon'" reinforce my observation. I'll grant that you are correct in the limited sense that a "cool roof" is better than a black, solar-radiation-absorbing one. But the notion that covering buildings with "white, heat reflecting roofs" will reduce that kind of heating by eighty per cent requires documentation, which you don't provide. Your conclusion that "folks don't talk about" this solution because they are brainwashed by carbon fanatics takes us into the realm of denial and dishonest science. If you have evidence against my assertion, please provide it. As for aerosols, wouldn't it be great if that worked? But aerosols are dangerous.

What is necessary is for arrogant deniers of climate change to educate themselves, stop spreading lies and behave in an ethical manner. We ALL need to adopt a Precautionary Principle which means preventing more injury to our Earth from mining, unethical agriculture, pollution and waste. For the climate change deniers, your opinion is uninformed, and no one is interested in your opinion, so keep your uninformed opinions to yourselves. I have much more faith and trust in the tens-of-thousands of scientists who have dedicated decades of their lives to research on the topic. When the Canadian government, Greenpeace and the Council of Canadians decide to work together on Climate Change, you know it's serious. I live in Edmonton, Alberta. North of us is the oil-sands where explosives blow up acres of Earth to mine soil containing oil. The oil is derived from the soil using water, with a by-product of sulfur. They have created mountains of sulfur. Next, the "oil" is shipped by pipeline to Eastern Canada, where it is shipped to ? This is insanity. There must be a better way of creating jobs. And we give Billions of dollars in subsidies to oil companies. Why? It's called politics. Politicians only care about there 4-8 year terms. This is the cause of Global Warming: Bad Politics.... And human greed.
@hippiemike503

Dude, what is the significance of who's at fault. Politicians have an agenda, deniers have an agenda, the polluters have an agenda. Ok, should they should be held accountable, but Artic sea ice cover is in decline; in Nov., the Siberian Artic Shelf is, as we speak, belching enough methane, an inarguably more powerful greenhouse gas than CO2, to increase the atmospheric CH4 level by 1000%, and ocean acidification is well on it's way to destroying the base of the food chain. The trick now is to survive this, which will almost certainly prove impossible.

There are 30,000,000 cubic miles of ocean according to google and it holds vastly more CO2 than the air. 30 yrs ago Al Gore and friends started to make big bucks pushing global warming. Watch an Inconvenient Truth and see how right he was. By the way Methane is food to many organisms and has a half life in the air of 7 yrs. How long does CO2 really last in the air? Due to nuclear testing and the C14 it produced we know. It virtually all vanished in 10 yrs and you couldn't even find a trace of it in 20. Plants and other natural sinks grab it and by the way only a tiny fraction of the increase in CO2 appears to be actually due to burning fuels. The rest was due to warming. This may be too bad because even a modest increase in CO2 does wonderful things for plant growth. You have fun.

The continued population rise world wide, he does not want to interrupt the irresponsible immense human expansion on planet. I do not want to live on a planet of his dreams, it is unaccountable stewardship of our ecosystem. I don't like the concept that everyday, when another human is added, I have to think about doing with less because some in the society believe no amount of population is ever enough - that is not intelligent thinking, it's moronic thinking. As usual this 'Berkeley' thinker will never confront the hard decisions facts dictate. Collins always comes up with another idea for a new gadget to keep everything going without any major change in social behavior. Renewables, right, he should check out the giant wind turbines laying over in farmers fields that will cost a million dollars to clean up (run cost in your super computer to calculate benefit of wind). This panacea to run to renewables is a absolute desperate attempt to not face the world we have created. the equatorial latitudes don't really experience seasons.Winter isn't just shorter day time hours for the northern latitudes.Its a time when plants shed their leaves and animals migrate.As the globe warms these changes will not happen and the eco-system will and already is changing.I have a plum tree which is supposed to fruit every two years but now it is flowering every year and has even started to sruce twice in one year.Snow is becoming a rarity for britain and Greenland is melting all year round.winter is becoming just a word to describe the months of the year surrounding the western new year.As it is summer in the southern latitudes.It is not good at all.

bluegold21 Exactly thank you, my point (which was directed at the OP) is that climate change does not change the Earth's tilt or orbit. Winter is winter with or without snow. To say we get rid of winter is nonsense. January through March will still be significantly colder in the northern hemisphere and July through September will still be significantly colder in the southern hemisphere. Plants will shed their leaves later and grow back earlier. Animals will still migrate when the temperature is uncomfortable for them, their destinations will change however the direction will not. I absolutely agree with you and disagree with the OP, it is definitely not a good thing.

Phony alarmism. Climate always changes-there are external feedbacks from the different spheres. Pollution for the most part is anthropogenic. Pollution is not equal to climate. It can be alleviated, probably not all eliminated. Entropy is a natural law of physics. It forms in urban heat islands lots of which is created by the high traffic congestion in California. Note the co2 did not create the entropy. Laws of energy say energy conversion is never 100% efficient. The loss is in the form of heat. With regard to the amount of plastic, yes we are all slobs. Reducing plastic garbage will definitely keep space free in landfills & not so dirty the landscape. The biggest problem is plastic in the ocean. China just dumps theirs there. There are vacuum boats that can vacuum this up. Oceans & forests absorb co2. We will not have the runaway greenhouse effect that Venus does. Co2 still remains at 0.038% of the gas composition; it stays int his balance because we have large sinks. The rest of the stuff is bunk.
