Volcanoes can be seemingly slow or violently fast, hidden underwater, or out in the open on the edge of a city. They are extremely dangerous and can erupt at anytime without warning, so proper evacuation protocols are essential. While they cause extreme destruction, they are also essential in how they have shaped our atmosphere, land, and changed the course of human history. Can we prepare better for the ever-present danger of volcanic eruptions?

I am always fascinated by volcano eruption than any other disasters or natural phenomenon. For me I can't refer it as natural disaster, since it doesn't wake up and explore throwing up billions tons of ashes, glass and boulders, it just give you a warning to vacate then send a small eruption then followed by devastation and if you didn't heed the 1st, 2nd and other signs of warning, then don't blame the eruption blame your stubbornness if you will have any second to do so. Pyroclastic flaws swept everything on it path, the air filled with microscopic glass and toxic gases that you can't run, cars chocked by ashes and lack of enough oxygen required for combustion unless you have an electrical cars and pray the road is emptied without any traffic. The best way to be safe is to respect the warning even if a seismic signs.

Like the man said, "Expect the unexpected.". Note that Ontake gave no warning. Several decades ago, Mauna Loa in Hawaii produced a single mid-range quake, followed only 4 hrs. later by an explosive eruption, which sent lava flows approx. 10 km to the sea in less than 12 hrs. And don't be fooled by Kilauea's designation as "gentle". It, also, produces the rare explosive eruption now & then. Basically, unless a volcano has been definitively proven by vulcanologists to be extinct, never take one for granted. With today's technology, dozens of volcanoes around the world have their own 24/7 live stream cameras, from Shiveluch in Russia to Ruapehu in NZ, & from Mt. Fuji in Japan to Popocatepetl in MX. Mt. Merapi has several. Great to check them out, because SOMETHING'S always popping.

Viscosity is the measure of resistance of a fluid to flow. A fluid that is highly viscous has a high resistance (like having more friction) and flows slower than a low-viscosity fluid. To think of viscosity in everyday terms, the easier a fluid moves, the lower the viscosity. copied from explanation of viscosity. Lave from Hawaiian volcanoes would be less viscous because it flows easier than the chunky stuff correct? Therefore to call its lava more viscous is a misinterpretation of the term. Video did just that, called Hawaiian lava more viscous.

What about the 1985 eruption and floods of lahars that occurred in Armero, Columbia??? It "ERASED" the city off the map with almost 25,000 thousand deaths? If that's not an ENORMOUS world tragedy, I don't know why I bothered to watch this Doc.

Some people are too stubborn because they have knowledge of volcanic eruptions but they are still going to live underneath or next to them, and when horrifying destruction starts they start running and bawling and want other people to come and help them that's foolishness. You have to be wise and show that you are not a fool, you can't out run a pyroclastic flow that's coming at you with hundreds of miles per hour, so why put your life at risk for just a piece of land to live. Look at the history of Mt Tambora, Krakatoa, Vesuvius, Mt Helen and Mt Pelee just to mention a few.... some people know about them but still those same people do still go and live next to volcanoes, with sense like that i don't want because that's way below human knowledge.... people are supposed to leave volcanoes alone stay away from them, only the volcanologist who are studying them should keep monitoring these natural born killers, but going to hike up and living next to volcanoes, no humans that's foolishness. I will never live next to any volcano even if free diamonds, gold and silver are there because i know the value of life, know this humans volcanoes have nothing to lose all they do is kill, kill, kill and destroy, so be wise and know what you are doing, because your life depends on the choices you make, and you only have one chance with this life to please God so make the right choices humans....I am nemesis prime and this is a message to humanity.

Leftists are a death cult. Why do you think they censored DOCTORS and news networks never tell those in danger of Summer power outages how simple it is to power a small fan from a cheap solar panel and power bank? My messages before these storms trying to explain this are immediately deleted. Why? They want extra "climate change" casualties. These people are 100% pure evil!
