I have done this rappel off of the morning glory arch in Utah. It is not me in the video but I can speak to my experience. This rappel is too long for a single 60m so we had to tie two ropes together. I have to say, the knot was a good marker of our progress as we approached our respective edges. Once we were both hanging off the sides, it felt totally safe and the rope did not slip at all.

I watched the first fail at 25% speed it didn't look like the belayer had too much slack out, the climber was reaching with his left hand to clip the bolt next to his right (probably had a bit in his mouth even) instead of clipping closer to his chest so there was an excessive amount of rope out when his feet blew and he fell. And the reason it looked like he didn't know he was gonna fall is cuz his left foot blew.

15:06 I went canyoning with our dog when I was little. My dad used to take the dog under his arm during rappels, not clipped in at all. The dog would carry a stick down the whole way, which we would use to entice it to do the big pool jumps. That crazy dog would jump 5 meters into the water going for that stick. Thinking back on it, it was probably one of the sketchiest things we did as a family. But i was like 12 at the time so i didn't really know better lol. There lots more sketchy shit that happened that day, but if i wrote that down this comment would be even longer.

It's crazy people are still just not clipping auto belays. I'd say that one is partly on the gym since they don't have the huge triangular signs that have pretty much become standard. I can see how it happens though, but now I always check beforehand that I'm clipped in and usually double check before I drop from the top.

VLC is a great player, you just need to invest time in customizing your settings/preferences. For example, the behaviour in the "playlists" can be set to 'repeat all' or 'repeat current item'. When you click on several videos one after the other (and not close VLC) they are added to a playlist, then when the last video ends it will repeat from the first one. Try diving into the settings and you will probably find what suits your needs :) Cheers

Personally at 5:30 i think that's beyond safe after they cross the edge. I mean look how much rope friction is on the rock. After you go over the edge, i'd even consider it safe for either person to rap to the bottom while the other stays just past the edge. Honestly I'd take a 20 ft whipper as soon as my partner is only 5ft past the edge. (I Imagine the butterfly was there as a middle marker.)
