Hello Friends,
Trip to Helsinki was beautiful and we wanted to check the bouldering gyms as well. Therefore I would like to share my experience how it was with you with a little bit more info about it. The gym was just amazing and surprised us in many ways which i show in the video.
I wish you enjoy the video at least as much as I enjoyed being in Helsinki with my beloved friends. Kittos and see you next time.
Sincerely,
Domi

So fun to come across this video as I was there talking to you guys on the day you visited the gym. And I even got a special mention on the video ❤ I hope you had a good time the next day bouldering outside as well.

There are two big climbing chains in Helsinki/Espoo area. Boulderkeskus and Kiipeilyareena with the latter being bigger and they also have gyms for wall climbing. For bouldering there are few differences between the two. Boulderkeskus grades a slightly softer, but that varies between BK gyms too. Walls in BK have no friction where as in Kiipeilyareena they have a texture so you can use the wall bit more easily. And lastly the mattresses are far softer in Kiipeilyareena. I feel we are a little spoiled in Helsinki when it comes to how much indoor climbing there's available. 🙂

Yeah every gym for sure has some difference as you said, even if only as small as softer grades or softer landing area :D maybe there is some correlation between grading and landing area, who knows :D. In this way i would be more than happy to be spoiled :D

Funny to see my default gym with someone else's eyes so thank you for the video! Boulderkeskus is more "old school" when it comes to boulders. The other chain in Helsinki is Kiipeilyareena which is maybe more modern and has comp style route setting. Personally bk is my favourite but it's great to switch between gyms and styles. The monthly comps are switching between BK gyms but all are pretty easy to access with public transport if you want to go.

Best gyms in my opinion are KiipeilyAreena, better boulder problems and the best of them is in Ristikko Konala. But again it´s about preferences

If you like oldschool-ish gyms you should try Yogarocks in Lahti which is quite close to Helsinki and very accesible by train
