I liked the explanation on the sustained load testing on your rope tie in point. What also was helpful was tying a safety knot under the pulley when setting up your gear, therefore reducing the chance of it falling to the ground. 👍 🇨🇦🇺🇸

Hi Richard, thanks for sharing thoughts about this amazing device: such an unique multi-ascender so smooth... Hitch based system is so great. And it also works great with 9mm rope (use in specific tree adventures). Would love to see it compliant with Europe régulations, oversea we are starting to love you device quite a lot...

Thank you. I'm not opposed to it I just don't have the contacts to get it started.

For long rappels I hook a figure 8 to my second bridge (below my Hitchhiker) and use the F8 as my primary braking device. The main reason is to prevent wear on my HH and its friction hitch. The HH acts as a backup.
@RichardMumford19 ай бұрын
Yes, the HH passes the whistle test and is your primary life support. The F-8 is very uuseful indeed.

What if you left a small swivel on the bridge and connected the non captive eye linkage to the swivel
@lililililililili8667Ай бұрын
Something like the camp enigma
@RichardMumford1Ай бұрын
@@lililililililili8667 that works just like a ring does as well. The eye on the swivel needs to be about 25 mm

Most metal devices wear in such a way as to make a sharp edge out of originally rounded parts. Often doesn’t matter as long as the rope keeps moving over it in the same way. Wondering if a sharp edge will develop on the friction ‘screw’ and cause abrasion to the rope if set differently? Infact my hh has wear to the dog bone, not creating a sharp edge this time but making the round pin oval which makes it act like a cam, jamming up without tension from the hitch, do you know what I’m on about? Two different considerations there after wear
@RichardMumford1 Жыл бұрын
The friction plug being a solid piece does not create a sharp edge especially since it's rotated and usually in a little different spot each time. The dog bone, like a friction hitch, is subject to wear and should be replaced.

@@RichardMumford1 i would recommend anyone buying one to order at least one spare dogbone to save effort later, particularly if you work where your rope gets dirty.

If you where to attach a secondary system, like your second hitch hiker or a hitch climber system. Would it be alright to attach the secondary system to the eye on the swing arm? Or would it be advised to attach it to your bridge.
@RichardMumford1 Жыл бұрын
Personally, my first choice is the bridge and then it is to the suspension points of my harness or the side Ds. But yes, depending on what you're using the captive eye works too, it is 25mm inside.
