Mount Fuji stands in Shizuoka Prefecture about 100 kilometers west of Tokyo. It is Japan’s highest mountain at 3,776 meters.
The official climbing season is from early July to mid-September. Outside of these months the huts on the trails and even toilets are closed and an ascent of the mountain is dangerous and strongly discouraged. The submission of the mountain climbing notification and proper equipment are also needed, so if you would like to climb Mt Fuji off season, please carefully check the rules in advance.
