Love how every video has a similar pace: motivated at the start, getting a bit overwhelmed when reaching 7th station, completly euphoric during the sunrise and completly devastated during the descend. Seems to be a common theme - so I guess I am prepared for it now. Thanks for the video!

You've described it perfectly well!!! Honestly had higher hopes for myself. The descent killed me, I slipped about 3 times and ripped a hole where the knees are 😂 BUT best of luck to you, it's a beautiful accomplishment.

I just did this today and it felt like we were inside of a small hurricane the entire way up. I have never thought I would turn around on a climb, but this one was a dick kicker and had me questioning every life decision I have ever made to get me to this point. We did it all in one go and stopped for maybe 2 minutes at each stop. Then ran down because we were going numb in our hands and faces. Cheers to you both for crushing this hike

Weather is always a hit or miss!! When we were at the summit, it was on and off raining on us. 😆 you’re a trooper for only taking short stops though!! Our friends who have done the hike multiple times said they had to turn back a few times because of a storm! I’m glad you made it out safely. ❤️

Hi Christine, amazing video !! I am planning to hike on pre opening week : ie 25th June . And planning to take the same bus which arrive 11:30 on the fifth station. But not sure I can meet anyone on the trail as it is Pre opening week. But the huts are accepting booking . Are there any accommodation available in fifth station ?

Hi thank you for watching the video! I'm sure many people will also try hiking during preseason since more tourists are flocking in. There aren't any accomodation on 5th station, just shops and a few restaurants. Since it is preseason, the summit huts wont be open as well. Wish you the best of luck!!

Thank you very much for this vlog! It is very informative and enjoyable to watch! This vlog helped me to decide if I should go on a hike or just enjoy it from afar, and it's the later on. I thought mt.Fuji is like some Alps in Switzerland, where we could ride on a gondola/train up to the hut or near the hut (which in most cases aren't huts but a proper hotel), and since I plan on traveling with my mom, I think this track is way too hard for her (to be honest maybe it's hard for me too).

I'm planning a solo hike too this coming July and this video has been very helpful! Thank you for all the information, the pack list was great for me to cross check with mine. I do have a question though, do you remember how much water you drank? I live in a tropical region and perspire ALOT, so I'm thinking 3L would be my minimum and i'd still have to buy maybe 1L from the stores, but i'm not too sure as i'm basing it on my water intake in a very hot (32-34 degC /~90-93 fahrenheit)and humid condition.
@ChristineWithJoy8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! I’m glad it was helpful. I did not drink as much water as being in hot weather. I also bought water at the huts so I didn’t have to carry too much water with me.

How long did it take to get from the fifth to the eighth station? And from the 8th to the 9th station? I’m about to do this in a couple of days. Trying to do it in a day without staying at a hut. And when did it start to get cold?
@ChristineWithJoy Жыл бұрын
It is possible to do it in a day without staying in a hut! Some hikers do that! It depends if it's crowded or not and your own pace with breaks. You don't want to go too fast because of altitude sickness. It's cold around 8th station if you're hiking at midnight like us, but the movement keeps you warm. We didn't start applying layers until we stopped moving at the summit to wait for the sunrise. Best of luck to you!

How many hours of actual hiking did you do for this trip going up and how many hours down?
@ChristineWithJoy Жыл бұрын
All of that really depends on which trail you take, how crowded it is, and how experienced you are. For us, to reach the summit it took about 6-7 hours from 5th station. Going down can take 4-5 hours. It's possible to do it all in one day, but many people like to stay the night for the experience and to get adjusted to the altitude.
@danielmartin3249 Жыл бұрын
@@ChristineWithJoy So my relatives who live there said we would hike about 7 hours up, stay the night and wake up early to make another 2-3 hour hike to the top to see the sunrise. Then walk down all in one shot. Does that sound right? I’m just wondering if I should go. What happens when someone goes for it and then gets to the point where they just can’t go on? Just trying to prepare for any scenario.
@ChristineWithJoy Жыл бұрын
@@danielmartin3249 yep! That’s what we did! For those who don’t make it sometimes just stay at 7th or 8th station. Or they just go back down. Whenever you get altitude sickness just go back down and try to summit another time.

@Christine, Love your channel. It's been helpful for my summer trip to Japan. SO I have a Question for you: Is it possible to trek Fuji san in one day on Opening day. I'm hiking Fuji San opening day this year (July 1st). I see that you took a bus to Fuji Station to jump on the bus to Station 5. Because the bus comes so late, and I wanted to trek it in one day. My Goal is to stay in Fujikawaguchiko and take a Taxi to mt. fuji 5th station yoshida trail so I can get there at dawn to start the trek in the early (Sunrise) AM. What's your recommendations? To your knowledge is that possible to get a taxi? where do you start from?
@ChristineWithJoy Жыл бұрын
Yes, it's possible to do in one day, but not recommended. Many people hike it for the sunrise. So if you want to see it you can start later in the day. If you don't care for the sunrise then you can just start at dawn and finish at night. Make sure to bring headlamps for light. Yes it's possible to take a taxi to 5th station. There are paved roads.
@profdyang4044 Жыл бұрын
@@ChristineWithJoy thank you so much for the prompt response! Super helpful. One more question for you. Sorry. Should we stay in Fujinomiya or Kawaguchiko? Which is the closest to best option/closest stay to Fuji 5th Station? And yes, as much as we wanted to do the sunrise, we have a flight back to the bay area on Monday. So we plan to do it all in one day and head back to Tokyo Sunday before our flight home. Thank you again for your feedback and guidance. Much Appreciated. Please keep sharing your experiences!
