Hi very nice rose plants and garden .these you buying last year .they are growing very fast .Nice.
@IExpectedBSJustNotThisMuchBS Жыл бұрын
Zepherine Drouhin are fast growers-I’ve had one and it was the best grower in my damp, wind blown garden (I’m in Ireland a mile from the sea). I’m redoing my back garden (had an invasive species with deep roots and the whole garden has to be redone with precautions taken), and I’m putting in an entire hedge along my 30 foot back wall so that it wraps the corners and one near the house (where I’m taking out the one that’s performed well). Roses that do well in the US don’t do well here in the northern bits of the UK without a lot of work due to mildew, black spot, etc. But this rose? Fabulous, and the one planted in the full sun blooms from spring through fall here with no problems. Well, save for rose petal litter given how profusely them bloom. (I vacuum them from the patio with a shop vac.)

Beautiful! I am still waiting for my roses here in the Panhandle of Texas. We had 2 late freezes and... I got the worst case of aphids that I have ever seen! They and the freezes caused me to have to cut them back THREE times! Ugh!!! It just broke my heart to see those fresh pretty little red leaves droop over and begin to dry up. But, I have some blooms and I got control over the aphids so, soon, I should get to enjoy my roses! Yours are beautiful! It made me happy to see them. Roses are just so amazing in so many ways!!! My daddy taught me about roses and how to care for them when I was a little girl and I've always remembered what he said and did. He was a really good gardener and he loved Kentucky blue grass. He always kept the prettiest lawn. I married a man who doesn't really even like to mow but, I've been watching y'all and Garden Answer and he sees some of it and he's catching the bug, a bit. Haha! He sees that there are ways to put things together so that maintenance isn't too big of a deal for him or me. Yea! We are actually doing a flower bed in the middle of our front yard! I have lots of hopes for it! :)

So beautiful to go back on lovely memories. I’m the same way my father may he Rest In Peace also gardened love it so much. He got raised in a ranch and loved everything nature has to offer. As I got older gardening just seems so natural and I remember I lived practically outdoors in my parents garden helping them. My memory is sitting on the rock under the huge fig tree eating figs smelling cilantro and lemon trees surrounded by red roses after a day of gardening with them. Your lovely memory took me back thank you! 😃🤗💚 Glad your husband is starting to show interest in gardening 😃 watching Garden Answer 😍 sure makes one get out and garden and create so much beauty! Beautiful roses! How you take care roses in pot during winter?
@GardenObsessions4 жыл бұрын
In our zone there isn’t much of a winter but definitely make sure you have winterized pots or wrap with burlap and mulch. Cover the canes with burlap as well in colder temperatures. Living in Kansas with lots of snow and temperatures as low as negative 10 I know that established roses can do great as well.

Thank you for sharing your roses. I just found your channel. I bought both Gertrude Jekyll and Olivia rose early this year. My Gertrude grew quickly and taller, but did not do well and it never bloomed this year. I am in Florida and it is humid and hot. The plant has black spots. I keep spraying Bioadvanced 3 in 1 Insect disease control, but it did not help much. Gertrude just had a few canes, but no leaves. I cut it to short and now leaves came back. What did you use to spray your roses? What fertilizer do you use? Thank you

Hey Angie and Ambrose, absolutely gorgeous roses ... so here in Australia we have this company called Garden Express (on line shop) I get their monthly catalog sent to me, I’m absolutely in love with the Summer Song, Princess Anne, Fisherman’s Friend, Charlotte, the William Shakespeare 2000 and the Olivia Rose Austin, yes they’re all David Austin Roses BUT the problem is I can only buy two for Mother’s Day 😫 I really don’t have the room for anymore than two, the choosing is doing my head in lol 😆 because they’re all so so pretty ... if you get some free time can you please look those ones up and tell me what you’d choose. Thank you Angie xo 🌹

I have Princess Anne and Olivia Rose Austin. I prefer Olivia Rose Austin. It's said all DA roses with "Austin" in the name are among the best. William Shakespeare 2000 is one of the best red roses. I would also recommend Poet's Wife if you want to pick a yellow rose.

Your roses are utterly beautiful! I wanted to ask, in the winter do you cut your climbing rose back? How does the plant look during winter? I’m thinking of planting a climbing rose around my front door that’s why :)
@GardenObsessions4 жыл бұрын
There is no need to cut back your climbing rose in winter if it is hardy for your zone. If you have consistent freezing temperatures at night consider covering the container or roots with burlap or mulch. If you have canes that look like they are too thick or dying then prune but that shouldn’t happen for years. During winter you won’t have any green so it will be just bare canes but so worth it when they bloom. 💚💚💚💚💚💚

Interesting that they're all doing so well in containers! I dont plant climbing or rambling Rose's in containers as too many gardeners have advised not to! Whars your secret? 🙂

The secret honestly is Espoma bio tone. It helps establish the roots quickly and healthy and also mainly spending lots of time in the garden picking by hand anything that does not look healthy.
