It's a hidden gem located on the outskirts of the city, and it is a beautiful place to take a walk and enjoy the sounds of the waterfalls on the other side of the dam. Hi! I'm from San Luis Potosí and here is some information about the dam. In 1863 the city goverment orderer to build the dam named La Constancia and then the dam San José. Construction was complete in 1903 and its dimensions are 100 meters long and 32 meters high. Today there is only one of the two dams and it is because in 15 september 1933 the dam La Constancia broke down because of rain of the past day. The next day 170 people was founded dead and there was a lot of material loss. It was a tragedy. Today, in the historic center, you can see some nails or marks of how far the water reached. Legend: In 1894, when the dam was under construction the people involved in the construcion were believers of mysticiscm and esotericsm and requested the presence of a socerer to ask him whats they can do for the successful for the construction. It is said that the sorcerer told them that in order for the dam to resist they had to make the sacrifice of taking the lives of innocent and pure people. For this reason, it is said that they paid poor families for the bodies of their dead children with excuses that it would be for a good cause and that they even stole and kidnapped children. It is said that some were buried alive, but not before giving them some sweets as a tribute. It is said that when the dam is in danger of breaking, those buried children cry and lament to warn the residents of the misfortune that is to come, and it is said that those children were heard crying on 14 september 1933, a day before the tragedy.
