I am blessed to be able to use the quintisential "Tater cannon" here in the states. Being in a rural area, my clients get the biggest kick out of it.. kids love it.. and it is fantastic at the job. I have an 18v makita air pump that takes me up to working pressure in ~20-40 sec should I need to take a second shot or a branch clearing shot to get things where I want it. Plus... it is a joy to use.

Enjoyed the video. You're getting to be quite animated in your videos. Adds to the entertainment value. I've tossed a few up....got a few stuck (or stook as you might say)....and made a few perfect tosses. Always exciting to get a successful toss....not so much if you're on your 5 or 6 toss or the line/throw weight gets stook. Thanks for sharing.

Glad you enjoyed it, throwline is a fun game, but a frustrating one also

It may not be relevant, but when selecting a union to your rope in to, I was taught as thick as your thigh for SRT, and as thick as your arm for DRT. Personally, I actually use a large hand fishing cast reel mounted flat on the ground to allow the line to spool out, and then hand wind the line back on to the reel for retrieval. I know the box is popular but it works for me to keep the line tidy and helps prevent knots and snags.

I enjoyed the video and other ones as well. Never thought of using the pendulum idea and I found the windmill technique to not be the most acurate. Any tips for getting that pendulum dialed in? If you can't tie a knot then tie alot! 🤘

Hey partner, nice American accent. What percent of your geography is US? Mine says 7.2% UK.

U.S. is the majority

Is it a good idea to tie a short piece of thicker line to the throwline, for the sake to grab it easily when throwing? Also what about very thin throwline (fishing line) like 0.5mm? Basically I have these questions because I had poor experience before, the line mostly got stuck. Either too light throwbag or too thick line. Deciding what to change :)
@ClimbingArborist6 ай бұрын
You can’t hand throw a fishing line, it’s too thin.

@@ClimbingArborist You mean it is impossible to grip? Or it will cut through the bark?

What bag you using for your equipment? I mean your harness, carabines and etc. Not for the rope. Your opinion - what the best bag on the market?
@ClimbingArborist7 ай бұрын
We have multiple different bags, but for the bulk of climbing gear we prefer the basic large Buckingham bag. It’s large, has back straps, easy to load/unload gear

If the throwline goes over weak branches before the target stable one, do you attach a weight to the other end and repeat the adjustment step?

Luckily we should covered that in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/foTdi3Rsbcdog6Msi=p_302GChI8JyaJ8W

I found I wasted too much of my energy throwing by hand. The big shot catapult solved my problem, it's not perfect either. Sometimes takes me several tries.
@boumarc7 ай бұрын
nice video but throwing either by hand or with other methods (air pump cannon or whatever) is an unpredictable hassle. much better to use a long 45ft telescopic hotstick like the Hastings HV-245 with their Universal Bronze S Hook P10046 tip to precisely position the throwline with weight exactly where you want it.
