I am concerned for this gentleman soldier. Every detail burned into his mind. I hope he has met with his soldiers in the private sector gathered and shared thoughts from that experience and encouraged all to support each other. They were affected by drawn out hellish isolation, pain, feeling hung out to dry, in need of ammunition and support troops, feeling responsible in an impossible situation. Behind this horrific experience is a sad man. God Bless All of Them.

There is a problem with the govt forcing good men to serve an oath that is hypocritical. When these men are shipped out, alot are there because it’s a job, life reasons, etc. My step father was relieved after he was struck with shrapnel from an RPG blowing out the wall of a building. He watched good men die, so I respect these men, and everyone who fights for what they believe in, there is nothing more honorable than facing the grim reaper when they come knocking. What I hate so much is how the govt forces such good men into terrible situations. The only thing I believe would change politicians minds, and those in power, is to serve. Yes there’s a 5* general, and chain of command, and I am sure all who took orders and gave them felt so many emotions. There was once a time when friendly fire was commonplace, so it’s gotta be heart wrenching to know they tried their most and still had losses. Always will when there’s war. It’s sad, but real. It’ll never end, it just changes shape and formality. Someone said whoever made Kamdesh an outpost should be held responsible for making a suicide kill box, I somewhat agree.

It's cause most people are concerned with how many followers they have and how much more of everything they can have for themselves. Very shallow and predictable society we live in nowadays.
@joelglanton65312 жыл бұрын
I'm under the impression that "fog of war" relates more to the inherent ambiguity regarding an organization's knowledge of both its adversary's and its own operational status, abilities, disposition, objective(s), size, etc. that is caused by the difficulty in affecting communication, intelligence gathering, etc. during wartime, as opposed to an individual soldier's inability to accurately recollect individual events. I've seen it used as a malapropism for the latter phenomenon quite a bit though so I'm sure you picked it up from seeing it used in a similar context somewhere. I believe my definition is closer to both the way the term is curreny used by the U.S. military as well as Clausewitz's original meaning when he (inadvertantly) coined the term by his copious use of the word "fog." I'm a former U.S. Army infantry noncommisioned officer (5.5 years of service with two combat deployments) as well as an amateur enthusiast of warfare and military history.

@@Sporebreath2304 As much as I (mostly) agree with your premise, I'm in my thirties and I've seen many more of my peers as well as the younger generations reject that particular lifestyle than you'd think. IMO it all starts with parenting and I would urge any parents (or soon-to-be ones) reading this to PLEASE don't allow your child to play with any devices such as phones or tablets until they are old enough to speak and effectively and coherently communicate and have been properly socialized with other children in their peer group. It isn't gonna kill them to not have a tablet or play with your phone. If you teach them early on that your phone isn't a toy, they won't even try to ask you for it. When they're old enough to attend kindergarten and they get the potential to feel envy and resentment because all the other kids play with tablets and phones, then it is the time to allow them some time with such devices- under your supervision of course, and it should never be their sole form of entertainment as it is NO substitute for actual, tactile playtime.

There are times when your life is in great danger that Time stand still and everything goes it just slow motion. And when it continues for a long period of time there’s all this time you can’t account that just slipped by. I understand it exactly. Plus when he say rounds the difference between rounds fired at us or….those rounds were “AT US”. another great explanation of the reality of war. Plus the unbelievable loudness of a full on assault! @64Pete3 жыл бұрын
If you read the video description, it states that this is raw, unedited footage. That's why this video is special. Much of what Mr Romesha is telling won't make (or didn't make) the final cut. The guy you can hear is just guiding his story. he's more a "director" and will be cut in the edit as well.
@randomlyentertaining82872 жыл бұрын
The crew producing this are perfectly fine. If you actually listened, you'd have heard the interviewer tell Clint that the interviewer wouldn't be heard when it was edited and if you read the description, you'd have seen "Full Video of Medal of Honor recipient Clint Romesha telling his entire story. He is occasionally asked to condense to say certain things for later editing purposes. This is the entire unedited footage."

I also recommend the Movie "The Outpost" starring Scott Eastwood, Orlando Bloom, Etc. A well made & Well Acted portrayal about what Romesha and the other Poor Bastards went thru leading up to & during the attack on Outpost Keating & based on Tapper's Book. It's Gritty, Violent and gives a good account of the "Administrative Bullshit & Armchair Warriors who were Directly Responsible for the Poor Decision to place COP Keating at the bottom of a "Canyon", surrounded on all sides by High Mountains & Ridges, where the Bad Guys could easily "Fire Down Upon" Our Troops, combined with an almost total lack of concern for the Supplies & Support, or lack thereof, that would have made the Defence of COP Keating, if not easier, but at least, More Survivable. MHO...A Cluster Fuck from Start To Finish but, as usual, not the fault of the "Troops Doing The Fighting and Dying, but the fault of Unqualified Armchair "Ticket Punchers" aka Politicians In Uniform, or "Same Same", but those only Aspiring for a CIB that would aid Promotions that would lead to Political Office, or some sort of Big Time Posting, Appointment or Govt. Gravy Train Job. You've probably already gathered that I Highly Recommend This Movie. IMHO it's as good as most any available and Far Better than Many. Scott Eastwood Does a Better Than Fine job portraying Clint Romesha & a lot of his dialogue in the movie matches Romesha's Retelling of the Troops' Ordeal, Sacrifice & Ultimate Victory at COP Keating in this video & Tapper's Book. I especially Like "We're Gonna Take This Bitch back" It's available On Amazon Prime for Rental or Purchase and free on Netflix with Membership

Tapper's book is very well researched and written. He avoided polemic arguments to tell the men's story. It reminds me of 'We were soldiers once and young . . . ' the story of Il Drag battle.

I'm the only one who has the urge to slap that dude with that planchet to cut?...man, he goes only in bad moments and interrupt this wonderfull hero. To bad that this guy story was done in a such an unprofesional manner....

Great interview of a true humble hero. Interview was handled badly imo. Interviewer could have been better prepared.
